Let’s see. In my rural Central Illinois county of 40,000 we have three communities with police forces and the Sheriff’s department. We also have a National Guard armory with about 100 National Guardsmen on call. We have several thousand veterans with many VFW and American Legion posts. They are backed up by the fact that almost every household has a firearm, often several, and a few with small arsenals. Two or three hundred Antifa, wandering around cluelessly about the fourth largest county geographically in the state of Illinois, would be considered to be easy target practice. Oh, and we would quickly have reinforcements and volunteers pouring in from surrounding counties. These Leftist city mice truly do not have a clue about rural America. We tend to be cohesive and help each other in emergency situations. Strangers are usually met with smiles and waves. Hostiles would meet a somewhat different welcome.
More importantly, they don’t know the terrain especially at night.
Most around us are not only armed but they have dogs, hunting dogs etc.

I couldn’t tell if this was parody or not. If not, I don’t even know where to begin. I’ve always said that Leftists were mentally ill, but this takes delusion to a whole new level. Of course, the only cure for delusion is reality, like the reality they would meet in the 2nd Amendment loving flyover country.
I have a sinking feeling that the Democrats will push and push and push till there is actual civil war. I can easily see them arranging for an armed BLM march into some rural communities and starting violence, then blaming the white rural community for inflaming racial hostilities. They will use that as a new media opportunity to slander rural communities and justify the imposition of martial law. The question is – will the National Guard follow suit? Remember that many top level military brass are now woke and liberal.
Urban leftists want to tell the more the more rural, conservative Americans of “flyover country” they despise what they should do, say and believe.
And the more Americans of flyover country aren’t interested in being told what to do, say and believe.
The urban leftists who fantasize about teaching those uppity rednecks a lesson should stop for a moment and ask themselves “where do our cities get our food? Who raises it? Who transports it to us? Where does our electricity and our gas come from? And our water?”
Asking themselves those questions might help those keyboard warriors of the left realize they really, really don’t want to start a war with the rural America they despise.

We have 95% of the 400 million guns and one trillion bullets. And most of us know how to employ same to effect.
What will the Illinois Guard, or any Guard unit, do? Will they blindly follow the orders of their woke Guard generals? Yes, unfortunately.
Same with the police. I don’t believe the cops will risk their measly retirements to do what is right. If the local sheriff or chief of police is an elected office, well, that might change things, maybe.

You don’t know Illinois. Consider the current revolt of most of the sheriff’s in the State about the gun grab recently passed by the Chicago controlled legislature.

They are local elected officials. Outside of Cook and the collar counties, almost all of Illinois is a red state.
Re the Illinois gun grab: I would think that the reaction of the downstate sheriffs (and even some suburban ones) was not entirely a surprise, and that a significant number of State Police aren’t exactly chomping at the bit to go out looking for unregistered firearms. Is it possible that the “all grandfathered firearms have to be registered” provision was placed in the law not so much for the purposes of primary enforcement (i.e., tracking down and busting people purely for not having registered their guns) but as an additional means of punishing owners of unregistered guns that are later used to commit crimes — e.g., a parent or friend who sells or transfers said weapon to someone who later uses it in a mass shooting?
That said, although the Antifa blowhard obviously has no clue what he’s getting into, I think he DOES have a point about rural areas being weakened/starved by being cut off from cities. The vast majority of people who live in rural areas and small towns are NOT farmers or self-sufficient homesteaders/preppers — they have jobs in larger towns and cities, and have to do most of their shopping, business, medical care, etc. in those towns. Nor are they all going to “feed themselves” on raw field corn and soybeans, which is what most rural acreage is planted in. Yes, they probably will be safer in general than city residents but the assumption that they will all get along just fine indefinitely in the event of civil war and city residents can go hang is IMO as dangerously naive as the Antifa blowhard’s assumptions.
