God Made Man In His Own Image

And Man has been trying to return the favor ever since.  Attempting to remake God into a mini me is probably the ultimate in blasphemy.  When it was pointed out to the original tweeter how her concept of Christ differs from the historical Christ, she responded thusly:

I wouldn’t mind having a share in the publishing rights to these hitherto unknown “writings of Jesus”.  Bone ignorance combined with absolute certainty, the twin curses of our times.

Jesus was not brown. Jesus didn’t have writings and the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus are not real. She’s an idiot smoking too much of the strong stuff. Someone should take away her phone.

Like everything the left ‘has,’ it’s all fiction fabricated in infallible ignorance.

“Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of your dearly beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole World.”

“Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.”

Boy oh boy, the Modernist version of catechesis sure has been a big success, hasn’t it? I mean, they have even discovered the writings of Christ! Who knew? /sarc off

I have a sister who went to Catholic grade school, high school, college and graduate school. She has 2 undergrad degrees, a masters and a JD. Last year she asked me how I could raise my daughters in a Church that did not allow them to reach the highest office. I told her it was not my “church”, it was founded by Christ and He only chose men to be his apostles. He also gave us the “Our Father” because even though God the father is not a man, there is some quality of fatherhood that is essential to our understanding of Him and so His priests are men. I also told her I don’t get mad at gravity, it just is. Her response was that Jesus never gave us the words of the Our Father, the patriarchy inserted that language. She also said the role of women in the Church had been changed for the same reason, by the patriarchy. I told her where I got my beliefs and I asked her where she got hers. She had no response and changed the subject. All I could think was that none are so blind as those who refuse to see.

FOS, just wondering, how many years of her “Catholic education” were run by the Jebbies?

What’s your over and under? The # is 7. I’m guessing one would have been sufficient for her. I had 4 years under a few older, amazing Jesuits and some who were barely Christian. From the latter I was instructed that truth is in the grey. Not that it’s objective, just that it’s in some undefined middle. Even at 14 I could recognize rat poison for what it was.

“I mean, they have even discovered the writings of Christ!” It used to be thought that the Law was written on the hearts of all people, but popular theology has discovered it is written in belly buttons, into which people are encouraged to stare.

“The Writings of Jesus?” Which book is that? To my limited memory, the only writing Jesus did was in the dirt.

The Church allows women to achieve the highest office, saint. It provides the only guaranteed means for men or women to attain that office.

My wild-eyed observation [from years of dispassionate reading and listening to this BS], the ‘new’ theology is not written on navels [but that’s an apropos metaphor].

The answer my friends is written on gonads and skin tones.

According to the Wisdom of Fulton Sheen, “. . . no genuine Catholic ever denies he is a sinner. A Catholic wants his sins forgiven – not excused or sublimated.”

Reminds one of Letty Cottin Pogrebin, one of the more congenial figures involved in the foundation of Ms. magazine. She wasn’t included among those to sit shiva for her grandfather in 1949, as it’s not the custom to include 10 year old girls (or women generally). Her ‘feminism’ began with her stewing over that.

Whatever your sister’s specific biography, I cannot help noticing all the redundant credentials. A plausible hypothesis I’ve seen in regard to the appeal of feminist discourse and attitude is the resentment of women who prospered in classroom settings who then discover that prospering in the market draws on a different set of skills – a set they never learned.

I know this won’t be popular to say, but “saint” is not an office. We really cannot win the fight for Christ by twisting the truth. For an anaology, look at the military.

Cornwallis was an officer. He lost the Battle of Yorktown and lost the war, but he was an officer: he had certain authority FROM HIS SOVEREIGN that gave him he lawful ability to issue commands. His commands might be unsuccessful, and they might be foolish but they had the authority of the sovereign behind them.

Being a saint has nothing to do with giving commands. Being a saint has to do with being on the right side, which is also, in the End, the winning side.

We don’t have any right to know why God chooses to make certain people his officers.

An “office” does not always imply authority, and authority doesn’t always involve giving commands … The words of St. Theresa of Avila carry more weight (authority) than do those of my milquetoast country club Bishop.
… If you prefer the word “position”, I believe the terms are synonymous.

In reference to the Church Militant, the parallel really is with military officers.

You are mistaken to equate “weight” with authority. For instance, I can tell you that if you murder a cop in Texas, you are going to face a harsh sentence, almost certainly the death penalty, and I would be right, but I have no more authority than the King of England to make that happen.

Outis, I know it was an imperfect analogy. It just reminded me of a conversation I recently had about titles. Like, of all things one could be declared by the Church, “pope” isn’t the worst, but I hope it isn’t anyone’s number one.

No doubt about that, Pinky! And the bit about the first being last and the last, first also comes to mind.

You are mistaken to equate “weight” with authority

Maybe, I guess it all depends on your point of view. Authority can be imposed from above, or granted from below. (The serpent, after all, had no authority over Adam and Eve, but they did what it told them to do). In your Church Militant parallel, what position would the Pope hold? I plan on continuing to use my air conditioner, regardless of his authority … I give his words little weight.

Back to the original “highest office” comment though … Queen of Heaven sounds like a pretty high office to me. 🙂
