Other Than That Mrs. Lincoln

Mona Charen posed as a conservative commenter since the eighties and then with the advent of Trump took her grift to new venues.  If Trump provided no other service to the Republican party than ridding it of many “professional conservatives” Republicans would still be in his debt.

Commentators, politicians, publications and actors behind the scenes all…exposed by Trump. The GOP establishment – I think – often longs for 1954-1994, when they were in the minority and needed to do no more than talk a good game to get re-elected ( I am talking about the House and, for the most part, the Senate).
Steve Schmitt, Nicole Wallace, Joe Scarborough, Bill Kristol, the entire National Review, the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, John Kasich, the obnoxious late John McCain, the aforementioned Mona Charen, the blowhard George Will, Lisa Murkowski, Pat Toomey, Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, et al…
Trump exposed them ALL. Trump, and only Trump…by his occasionly obnoxious treatment of such losers is the only one who could have made their heads explode. Yeah, Trump was boorish, crude and sent mean tweets….to everyone who deserved it all.
Nobody, not college faculty, not ignorant/stupid Hollywood types, NOBODY is more self-important or pretentious than “official” Washington. Nobody deserves a good smackdown than those lemmings and blowhards…and Trump delivered it. By backing the semi senile Biden, their credibility is shot.

Charen cadged a law degree in 1984, but never practiced. She landed a job in the PR apparat of the Reagan White House during Pat Buchanan’s tenure as ‘director of communications’. After that, she landed positions in the world of topical commentary. Her career in that trade was at its peak around about 1995, during her tenure on a CNN program called Capital Gang, which I believe was pitched to a DC audience although broadcast elsewhere. She kept in circulation after 1998 producing a column which was distributed by which syndicate I forget. For some puzzling reason, the Ethics and Public Policy Center decided she was worth putting on staff in 2015. She has no policy chops, so it made little sense to hire her. When her contract ran out last year, they cut her loose. Almost none of the NeverTrumper residue have been people who were disciplined students of public policy. The people who were had their own interests and research programme and weren’t addled by the antics of particular politicians. One single best guess about Charen is that she’s someone who continually conflates public life and mundane life in her thinking, and that her political advocacy was derived from an essentially emotional response to particular persons – Ronald Reagan in the first instance, the Bushes father and son later. You take away the personal focus, and there was nothing left. Or, what is left is a revulsion of Trump which generates grotesque silliness in defense of Joseph Biden of all people.

When I explain to people how “fact checkers” can reach any conclusion, regardless of the actual facts, I often use the hypothetical of a fact checker “debunking” the claim “crime is more common now” when in fact more crimes are being committed.

I did not choose the example randomly. The left is endlessly finding new ways to talk about crime so that it is suddenly “low” right before they need to be re-elected.

The most diabolical strategy of the leftist Democrats is the developing attempt to drive a wedge between Trump and Governor DeSantis. Neither could be elected President without the support of the other. I hope these leftist Democrats are not successful. In addition to Tuesday, 2024 will be the last chance for redemption that this Nation is afforded. My opinion, maybe I am wrong.

I believe you are exactly right. If the party of all things Woke is allowed to remain in the White House after 2024, the Republic’s death warrant will have been signed. The only question will be how long it takes to be carried out. Many people believe the Constitutional republic founded in 1787 is already dead, but I’m not quite there yet. Let’s see how the allegedly smart electorate deals with where we are right now. Keep those prayers coming.

I think you all need to get a bloody grip. The country is going through a decadent period right now. Any country has upward and downward trajectories in the quality of its public life. Our best hope is that this is not a long cycle.

The “bloody grip “ from the woke leftist is exactly what I fear if they are successful in 24. It’s not personal, as I likely won’t be around then. The fear is for the grandchildren and succeeding generations who will never know the United States 🇺🇸 I grew up in.
