Oh Goodie, Now God’s Holy Church will be functioning much like…our congress.

You can see the classic leftist move forward in many of the documents, but particularly the one on “Women in ministries and offices in the Church.” It is true that the text does not call for women priests or bishops. I am sure that many of the defenders of “the synodal way” will say things like “this is merely a way to express the important role that women play in the Church, and to express the desires that the laity has for women to remain active in spiritual life in ways consistent with Church teaching.” It is also full of asides which do not tie into the main point, but which they will argue that detractors disagree with (such as how violence against women is bad, which no one would disagree with.)
But the text also says:
-“there can be no hierarchy based solely on gender”
-” Many women today themselves consider it scandalous to
be excluded, as they perceive it, from the official representation of Christ. Put to constructive use, this has an energising impact, and motivates people to act”
-“This absolutely must
include reflecting on the different theological positions from the perspective of gender equality, entering into a close exchange with the social sciences, cultural studies and human sciences, and constructively taking up their reflections on gender theory”
-“It is irrelevant for most people today whether it is a man or a woman who steps up to represent the Christian Church.”
-(In a passage about who the “apostles” were) “Why the question of gender alone should dictate the path ahead here is therefore incomprehensible. ”
-“The recognition of women in ecclesiastical offices prevailed especially in those Churches where the proclamation mandate of women was taken seriously and fulfilled, or where a gift-orientated equality of rights was distinguished. A pneumatological accentuation of the theology of ministry played a decisive role in this process. This is certainly an ecumenical point of contact, including if gender equality is being struggled for to the present day in the Churches of the Reformation in a similar way as in
different regions of the Roman Catholic Church.” (Note “Churches” is capitalized in the original, despite referring to protestant denominations here.)
And so on. There are many passages along these lines. Put together it would be impossible to agree with them and not also say that women should be ordained priests. But the supporters of the document will intentionally refrain from that conclusion until the document receives further acceptance. That is, in the early stages they will say “We aren’t trying to have women priests. This is just a document which expresses the opinions of the laity and acknowledges that women have dignity too.” In the late stages they then switch to “You agreed with this document. It would be absurd for you to pretend that you do not also accept female priests.”
It’s a classic leftist move.
Perhaps, this winter, in the face of the Russian fuel cut-off, faithful German Catholics will keep warm by industriously burning Synod documents. Is there an approved Blessing for Matches?
“They may call themselves Catholic, but they have nothing in common with the Church other than the name.” That also goes for pretty much every man–every one–in the cesspool we call the Vatican. They are not a part of the Church Our Lord founded; they are the false church.
So on one hand the Pope is all powerful leader who can sack a Bishop at his whim, whilst at the same time the German Bishops have just formed their own self-governing body without approval from the Pope. And are getting away with it.
The next time someone (you know who you are), in this comment section tries to convince me that the Pope is all-powerful head of the Catholic Church who has the sole power over his Clergy, I’ll be straight out laughing in their face. That’s the heads-up.
And are getting away with it.
Because he doesn’t want to do anything about it. He has sacked enough other bishops for far less.

I think this outcome was PF’s planned outcome all along. This is no accident. PF coukd have shut the Germans down at any point & did not.
LAVENDER Mafia prevails in a very short stint.
This is a cleansing process.
See the dirt.
Smell it if you must.
Claim it as genuine riches or scrub it out. No in between.
The interesting thing is that the stain is recognizable. You don’t pretend that
it’s not there unless you wish to change the order and classification of something that was, is and always will be. Then the onlookers can choose.
Does the emperor have new clothes?
The Francis effect is not going to cripple the Church. He can support the culture all he wants and despise tradition. It doesn’t matter because he is already past tense.

I so hope you are right in the short term. I know overall in the long term you are correct.
I see it another way: Pope Francis shutting down a single Bishop/Priest/Cardinal is FAR easier than shutting down a GROUP of German Bishops. Liberal German Bishops to be exact. I don’t think he is happy about them doing things THEIR way. Unfortunately for him, they are playing his game and are beating him at it, so I think he knows he won’t win this one.
Traditionalists are easier to pick on.
He ain’t as powerful as he thinks he is, in his head.
The German Bishops are merely his “stalking horse”. He agrees with every action and wants to see the potential blowback . The majority of German Bishops are in sinc with the Pope. Where are you Athanasious? The Pope and Germans are on the same page See how long it takes him to implement their agenda. After an initial rebuke, He will implement their program.
The German bishops appear to be acting just like Catholic education did in the 1967 Land O’ Lakes Statement. Both groups act equally schismatic.
“In his mild rebuke to the German bishops’ Synodal Path, the Pontiff did not scold them for undermining the faith; he only cautioned them against moving too fast”

If you raise the temperature of the water too fast, the frog might get wise.
