Inevitable but sad. Nichelle Nichols has passed away at age 89. She endowed what could have been a minor role with depth, intelligence and charm.
One of the first black women to have a major role in a US television series, Nichols endowed the cultural moment she lived in with hope for a much brighter future.
May she live long and prosper in the next world.
As a youngster watching TV in the 60s, I thought she was one of the most beautiful women to grace the screen. Furthermore, she became a role model and a heroine for many young black girls while young boys of all races fell in love with her. Whatever sins she may have had, I hope the good Lord will overlook them.
Also, Tony Dow passed away last week at the age of 77.

She’s beautiful. I wonder if those Af-Am loud-mouths will acknowledge her trail-blazing achievement? Or are they still banging the tired and boring drum that no black person has ever achieved anything because of the white man? Yawn.
