PopeWatch: Hmmm

Lots and lots of rumors of a coming resignation of the Pope.  We shall see.

I seriously doubt that there is anything to this. Most likely speculation for the sport of it. Nothing more.

He is a Jesuit and Peron/Obama in a cassock. Powere will need to be pried from his cold dead hands.

Not a chance of retirement.

May be a sign of disarray at the top, more-serious-than-disclosed illness, or just a trial balloon to smoke out more names for the bulging Enemies List.

My mother was told in 2006 that she was an unsuitable candidate for general anaesthesia, so a planned operation would have to be reworked into a different procedure which could be performed with local anaesthesia. I think it’s a reasonable wager that there are impediments to surgical correction of the Pope’s joint problems which were manifest in the aftermath of his last surgery.

He’s 85. He has a 10% probability of dying in the next year and a 50% probability of dying in the next five years.

Art Deco is correct. In addition, the prospect of two emeritus Popes would adversely affect the image of the Church. At age 85, providence will eventually resolve any issues.

Yeah, ’cause the Church has such a great image. Personally I don’t see the big deal with two retired popes. But what do I know, I’m a convert.
When I was a protestant I thought that Catholics were Christians, but just a little bit retarded. Now I think Catholics are complete idiots save a few. We got spoiled with some good popes, so the Holy Ghost threw us a turd to remind us how what pieces of shit people can be.

I will believe it when I see it. He is not through destroying the Roman Catholic Church. Still more unsavory men to appoint and promote.

I think that B16 will die shortly. That’s why Archbishop Gaenswein was so emotional when speaking about him last week. I’ve long predicted that “Pope” Francis will retire when B16 dies. It would also be the source of all of the rumors that “Pope” Francis would soon retire.

If he does retire at B16’s death, it would give more weight to the theory of B16 sharing his Papal authority, his ministry. His office would go away upon his dead so “Pope” Francis would necessarily need to retire. IMHO.
Who knows this side of the curtain….

Look, no one can ‘destroy’ the Catholic Church. I don’t care if Hitler and Stalin were cardinals they still would not have been able to destroy the Church. Yes, they can scandalize the Church, stain her, corrupt her members but they cannot destroy her. We just have to stay in the Church and trust God to hold her up as he said He would. Charleston Heston in Ben Hur complained that he never drove a team of horses in a chariot and that he could never win the race! DeMille said to him paraphrased: “Just make sure you stay in the chariot and I will make SURE you win.” We stay in barque of Peter and we will win.

I like John FK’s putting quote marks around “Pope” Francis’ title.

He will not go willingly. That’s not what dictator personalities do.
Bet on it.
