PopeWatch: Bare Minimum

Everyone, including even Nancy Pelosi, was criticizing the Chinese government for the arrest of Cardinal Zen.  Notice was being taken of the silence of the Pope.  So he finally makes concern noises, but even then he will not mention Cardinal Zen.  Find someone in your life who will love you as much as Pope Francis loves the Chinese regime.

Unfortunately. This reminds me of celebs during the recent shutdown. Who would sanctimonious post online that they were “with” all of us during these troubled times. As I remember, my immediate response to such swillage was that. If they were not personally delivering Guinness and chocolates to my doorstep, they were liars.

In a different time with a different cardinal and a different pope:

“Pope Pius XII called Cardinal Mindszenty’s arrest a ‘serious outrage which inflicts a deep wound . . . on every upholder of the dignity and liberty of man.’ He defended the cardinal’s right to oppose the government when it contradicted ‘divine and human rights.’ The Vatican called for Catholics everywhere to fight against a ‘pathological’ system that flagrantly abuses human rights.”

The Pope refused to meet Cardinal Zen when Zen journeyed to Rome with the hope of speaking to the Pope regarding his appointment of a Chinese-controlled Bishop for Hong Kong in the 120 hours he was allowed to leave HK back in 2020. There was not even a response to the letter he gave his secretary regarding Chinese Catholics. No response to Cardinal Zen’s tweet about this no-audience which followed. The Pope was busy. Busy. To meet one of his Cardinals.

And now some months later, the same non-response regarding Cardinal Zen’s arrest and interrogation by the Communist (Godless) Chinese government. Crickets.

But the Pope was happy to have a publicity filled audience with Leonardo DiCaprio in January 2016 and discuss the worlds reliance on fossil fuels, climate change and the environment. The actor gave him a cheque from his charitable works foundation.

Never mind tortured Chinese Catholics, the sham Chinese controlled Church, the human rights abuses in China and a high-ranking servant of the Church arrested and interrogated by a communist regime.

A Hollywood actor talking about global warming science with a tidy donation is obligatory for the Pope.
