Rich liberals in cities can always pay for private security. The war on police has had most of its casualties among the poor who live in crime ridden inner city centers, and many of them are black. If we had anything approaching an honest media this would be endlessly reported. Instead, a Marxist organization of transparent grifters has been allowed, by amoral Democrat politicians and their media propagandists, to take away from the honest poor the only line of defense against violent crime they have. This evil farce, with apologies to Horace Walpole, is a comedy for those who think, a tragedy to those who feel.
According to an article from a few weeks ago in the Toronto Sun, Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot has a special unit of 71 police assigned to protect her, in addition to her 20-officer bodyguard detail.
The Minneapolis city council voted to defund the city’s police (unanimously, IIRC). But when three council members complained of receiving threats, they were assigned additional protection from a private security firm, which reportedly costs the city $4500 per day. This began in 2020, and I haven’t seen reports of it being discontinued.
