The false charges of racism against The Freedom Convoy are no accident, as the Marxists used to say. Allegations of racism are the way Leftists among the chattering classes in the West make themselves feel good as they pour vials of wrath on the heads of blue collar whites who steadfastly refuse to take their politics from their “betters”. Their reaction to The Freedom Convoy is entirely predictable and the targets of their wrath are paying attention.

“The People” are just a tool to power. When their interests impinge upon either the acquisition of power or its maintenance, the people can go hang. Literally.
And they usually do.
I think it was James Q. Wilson who ran a research project in Boston in 1966 and discovered that the preferences and priorities of local residents bore little relation to the city hall agenda. Street-level residents were concerned about rising crime. City hall functionaries yammered about ‘poverty’.
Michael Harrington took an interest in that minority of the wage earning element who had lower earning power and lived in the most troubled neighborhoods; Edward R. Murrow (“Harvest of Sorrow”) took an interest in niche populations in desperate conditions. They were interested in segments of the population which might be candidates for patron-client relationships which appended the poor to the social services apparat. John Kenneth Galbraith wanted more production and allocation decisions made by public sector employees advised by people like him.
What’s happened since is that their counterparts today are no longer indifferent to the interests of ordinary wage-earners, but eager to use state power to abuse, harass, and injure them in various ways. Make their neighborhoods unlivable, contrive to reduce their employment opportunities; have schoolteachers insult them, insult their families, and insult their forebears. Work to reduce their influence in society by importing illegal aliens who will be candidates for patron-client relations overseen by people like them.
I have to pass along the remarks of a fellow I cross paths with who signs himself ‘MBunge’. I think he’s spot on:
“As systems (like societies) grow in size, they run into the problem that people rise to or sustain elite status within the system NOT by merit or genuine achievement but by becoming really good at manipulating the system itself. The result is you get people in charge who are fairly good at maintaining the status quo but are spectacularly incapable of handling any external challenge to or internal breakdown of the system.
Essentially, you get leaders who are actually WORSE at dealing with a crisis than some random shlub picked off the street would be.”
The left cannot see people, only abstractions. They supporter “the workers” but not individual workers.
It is the same as how a leftist will talk about the need to help “the hungry,” but not only will he not help the homeless in his own town he will denigrate those who do feed the hungry as “wasting their time on small problems when we need to be addressing systematic issues.”
Inside every liberal is a totalitarian waiting for her/his chance.
