I don’t see how. Costs of almost everything are higher than just a few months ago. Our groceries and gas bills have gone up since the start of the year, so don’t know where this stat comes from.

That number is total BS. The only way a meal is going to be less is because less is spent. Our food and gasoline fuel cost are +50% than a year ago.

Completely out of touch with Americans and reality, the Chinese Occupation Junta must think we the people are as [expletive-deleted] stupid as they are.

It could be why their favorite preposition is “unexpectedly.”

Re: supply chain constipation. It is transitory. However, the unprecedented increases in the money supply may not so easily reversed.

As of May 2021, “M2” had increased 32.9% from January 2020. United States Money Supply M2 increased 13.8 % YoY in May 2021, compared with a growth of 18.0 % in the previous month. The data reached an all-time high of 27.1 % in Feb 2021 and a record low of 0.2 % in Mar 1993.

To be clear, inflation is bad but they are capable of making such massive policy mistakes that a great depression could loom in our fell future. And, that is far worse.

Consider this: In May 2021, ‘only’ 20.4% of all US income was from government. That is down from 22.7% in April and from the record 33.5% in March.

Imagine the president as an idiot. But that would be a redundancy.

It’s not enough you insult us with the 16 cents… but the puns!

That’s just rubbing salt in the wound.

Actual story:

https://www.fb.org/newsroom/july-4th-cookout-cost-stable-compared-to-year-ago
Farm Bureau analysis reveals the average cost of a summer cookout for 10 people remains affordable at $59.50, or less than $6 per person. The cost for the cookout is down just 16 cents (less than 1%) from last year, but 8% higher compared to 2019.

The largest year-to-year price increase was for strawberries. Survey results showed 2 pints of strawberries at $5.30, up 22% from last year, due to strong demand and the effects of several weather events including severe rain, hail and high winds that caused significant setbacks to the harvest early in 2021.

Retail price changes for products in the meat case are a bit more nuanced, according to AFBF Economist Veronica Nigh.

“Beef and pork processing plant disruptions that occurred in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic have been resolved, leading to lower retail ground beef and pork chop prices in 2021 compared to 2020,” Nigh said. “However, consumers looking a bit farther back to compare prices are seeing higher prices for ground beef, pork chops and chicken breasts compared to pre-pandemic (2019) prices. That’s due to continued strong demand for American-grown beef and pork from both U.S. and international consumers.”

AFBF’s summer cookout menu consists of cheeseburgers, pork chops, chicken breasts, homemade potato salad, pork & beans, strawberries, potato chips and fresh-squeezed lemonade with ice cream and chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

There’s even the image that they made, which points out it’s down less than one percent from last year, and up 8% from the year before.

The Savior of the free world strikes again. 16 cent’s.
That’s impressive for being a liberal.

Biden is claiming “success” for the comeback of an economy he didn’t build and a vaccine he did not produce.

From the Farm Bureau article the price of 2 pounds of beef dropped about 70 cents from last year (due to COVID supply chain issues.) If we then put aside the cost of beef (since it is a clear fluctuation due to temporary factors) the cost of the cookout is 57 cents more expensive.

Pork chops for the 4th? What the heck? And the prices for beer and soda have spiked. oh, I see. Lemonade for all. Right. Feh.

Since it’s the Farm Bureau the purpose of calculating the cost of the “average cookout” is primarily to give a general view of how various agricultural products are doing. Since pop has nothing to do with farming and beer is more removed from it than lemonade, they list lemonade. It’s not really meant to be used as an accurate way to plan your cookout costs. The Biden administration just grabbed onto it because they are so desperate for any good economic news.

Gosh 16c how insulting to the honest working man. Did the 16c include icecream.

I was just going to say what Foxfier said. Last year there was a meat shortage, in part because of meatpacking plants in covid shutdown. Quite a bit of culling, tons of lost meat. I’m surprised the industry was able to bounce back as well as it did.

Biden and his gang of communists claiming credit for the vaccines and so-called recovery is like the crowing rooster taking credit for the Sun Rise.

They simply needed to end the hysteria and reopen the economy. In numerous blue hell holes they didn’t.

They shut down the economy under Trump. They killed millions of jobs and small businesses. They say they reopened the economy under Chinese Joe. Look how many jobs Chinese Joe created! The numbers of employed is still way below February 2020 and U/E rate is still elevated at 5.9^%.

They are about to slam us with the Delta variant of China virus
hysterics.

Yes, Shaw, they will keep pulling the virus variants out because it is the means of controlling the population with fear.
