Thanks Don, this is a fine performance. I have the Richard Stotzman cd from old, which also has the bassoon concerto. The clarinet quintet is also nice. I remember trying this last out, without success. My younger brother aced it. He alternated first chair on the Southern California Junior Symphony with Mitchell Lurie.

I absolutely love this piece and the others Mr. Kurland noted. The adagio from the Concerto actually brings tears sometimes, it is so sublimely beautiful. I also favor the Stoltzman recording as well as the “authentic instruments” effort under Christopher Hogwood. Thanks for this post!

BTW, if you look at the score this is for an A clarinet (pitched 1 semi-tone? (interval_ below the normal Bflat clarinet). Pro clarinetists have both A and Bflats.
