My wallet remains closed to my diocese.
Sure glad I didn’t return the card yet from this year’s diocesan “appeal.” Now I have the perfect inscription:
“Dear Bishop Burns: My contribution this year will be zero. If the USCCB can find over two million dollars to fund the “ministry” of the disgraced Cardinal Wuerl, surely the Diocese of Dallas has no real need for my paltry few hundred dollars. I will reconsider when you and your brother bishops realign your financial priorities in accordance with Divine law. God bless. “
The irony here is enhanced by the fact that Bishop Burns hails from Pittsburgh, and Wuerl was one of his co-consecrators to the Episcopacy in 2009.
