Our Pope warning about a new great flood:
.- Pope Francis said in a new book released on Tuesday that the world could face a catastrophe like the Great Flood if human beings fail to address climate change.
The pope made the remark in a new book-length interview with the Italian priest Fr. Marco Pozza published on March 2.
In “Of Vices and Virtues” (“Dei vizi e delle virtù”), published in Italian by Rizzoli, the two men discussed the account of the Great Flood in the Book of Genesis.
According to an excerpt from the book in the newspaper Corriere delle Sera, the pope said: “A great flood, perhaps due to a rise in temperature and the melting of glaciers: that is what will happen if we continue on the same path.”

“Pope” Francis should focus on what will happen to souls who do not address their sinful behavior.
Worries about climate change, something no one can do anything about, should be the last thing on anyone’s mind.

But the climate change that occurred was global cooling due to a volcano (or maybe a couple–there are different theories out there).

Global warming might get us all a longer growing season. That’s a good thing.
Whatever they’re right or wrong about, they’ve conducted themselves in such a way for 30-odd years as to guarantee no one not phased by efforts to define in-groups and out-groups is going to pay them any mind.

Leaving aside the science, what does everyone think about the theology? It’s fine if a Catholic says that environmental damage can have consequences, but this seems like it’s specifically a denial of God’s promise to Noah. Like, exactly saying that God’s wrath could lead to a second Great Flood. Always hard to tell with an article based on a conversation in another language, but still.
If only there was a clergyman in Rome who had read the bible. What was the cause of the great flood? (Immorality). Did anyone important promise that it will not happen again? (God). Does the phrase “global warming” ever occur in the bible? (I haven’t seen it).
