Freedom of Religion Exists Even Under Lockdown Regimes

Go here to read the decision.  Favorite passage:

It is time—past time—to make plain that, while the pan-demic poses many grave challenges, there is no world inwhich the Constitution tolerates color-coded executive edicts that reopen liquor stores and bike shops but shutter churches, synagogues, and mosques. (Justice Gorsuch, concurring.)

Great line.
I look at this blowfish and smdh, remembering that he celebrated the infanticide law and lit the Empire State bldg. in pink.

Diabolical punk.

Grandpa, God rest his soul, would look at Cuomo in the face and ask him why are there so many more horses asses than horses in New York State?

One thing I’ve realized is how much of this has been done because Church leaders have cooperated.

In the spring lockdowns in MN, it was clear that Governor Walz had it out for Christians. His “dials” for reopening did not allow increased attendance until the very last stages. This led to the absurd situation of the Cathedral of St. Paul being restricted to 10 people in the entire (very large) building even when small shops were being allowed greater attendance.

The second that churches pushed back he suddenly allowed masses to resume. There are still restrictions (which would probably also vanish if there was widespread resistance again), but they are far below what the governor would have liked. And now in the current restrictions, where the idiot even declared that it was forbidden to visit anyone for personal reasons, either inside or outside, there still were no additional restrictions for masses. I can’t imagine that that would have happened if the bishops and other Christian groups had not said “we’re having services whether you say we can or not.”

Even in New York and California, if the standard had been for everyone to continue doing what they were doing, the government would not be able to restrict things as much as they did.

Rudolph…my sentiments exactly. We are no longer a church of martyrs, but maybe, in no small part, because many–if not most of the the secular authorities and the shepherds have the same game plan? Climate politics, open borders and mask-worship come immediately to mind.
