I Do Not Like the Cone of Shame

I have been a conservative since I was old enough as a child to begin understanding politics, but if I had not been, the revelation during this year of punishment that so many politicians are obviously barking mad fools would have made me one.

I’m not seeing the use of protective equipment as an indicator that politicians are barking mad fools.

What is said by journalists and academics and lawyers of certain stripes does indicate that they’re largely fools and frauds. Pretty much everyone in those trades is implicated to some degree because malefactors therein suffer no loss of status or professional repercussions (and a tiny population of genuine dissidents are harassed by their institutions – John McAdams and the late MS Adams being obvious examples).

“use of protective equipment”
That is not virus protection. It is used to stop animals from licking wounds. Anything else is a “cone of shame”.
The most incredible aspect is that Americans are willing to don them. Truly sheeple.

Anything else is a “cone of shame”.

In your imagination only.

Imagination is precisely what makes something “protective equipment” or an unnecessary hindrance.

If we can imagine that something could decrease the chance of spreading even a little, it becomes sensible “protective equipment.” Neither public reactions nor official mandates are determined by actual data saying that these things are effective or not. Outside of hospital settings, there largely is no data in the first place. It’s all in what threat can be imagined.

Or to put it another way, can anyone, even the drafters of these guidelines, give a reasonable, fact-driven, estimate for how many people will be prevented from catching COVID-19 due to these “inverted face shields” being worn by wait staff?

Art, you do realize the term came from a Pixar movie? Please send a photo to Don of you wearing your cone of protection. It would be interesting to see if you care to protect others as much as those waitresses. Obviously if you don’t wear one, then those waitresses care more for other’s welfare than you do? Or is that just my imagination too?
Mearly calling something “protection” doesn’t make it so. I thought you were more serious than that.

Does anyone have any idea how many reported of the COVID deaths, some 160,000 or so, were of those confirmed to have Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome(SARS) directly attributed to the SARS-COv2 virus? I don’t think the CDC is doing a breakdown. Rather if one dies “with” it, it’s presumed to be because of it, thereby greatly exaggerating the danger.

Dies with, heck, New York was counting if you died of a heart attack because they refused to take you to the hospital!

It would be the ideal fashion accessory to complement a doggie bag. 🙂
