A popular saying is “You had to be there.” In reference to understanding 2020, the year when reality had a break down, I don’t think living through it is of much help.

The footage confirms what previous testimony and the drug tests said: George Floyd was clearly on something and acting erratically the whole time. Notably he is breathing heavily well before they get to the police car and says “I can’t breathe” at least three times before he is on the ground (and going to the ground was something that he demanded, the police just wanted him to get in the back seat of the car).
I don’t know if Chauvin’s actions hastened Floyd’s death, but they clearly weren’t the sole cause of it. I don’t know if it is possible to get a murder conviction out of this even in the Twin Cities.

Is that because he’s brought charges he knows he can’t convict on, or because he’s expecting a Los Angeles type riot when his case ends in a Rodney King type acquittal?
