Clinton E-Mails: Unfinished Business

Dave Griffey at Daffey Thoughts reminds us that the Clinton e-mails unindicted crimes, and their fallout, remains unfinished business:

I’m sure it won’t go away.  It never does.  Nothing new.  Political parties have been going after each other since the beginning of political parties.  The fact is, the FBI rendered its verdict and the justice department has concurred.  Hillary Clinton might have been smack down stupid and ignorant of national security concerns beyond what an average person can imagine, but she’s no criminal.  A fool perhaps.  A person lacking a common sense understanding of caution towards sensitive information maybe.  I’ve worked for companies that would fire you on the spot for what she did, whether intentional or not.  But she’s not a criminal.

While many supporters hoped the headlines “Clinton Exonerated!” would put it to rest, even Americans with our ‘here today, gone later today’ attention spans took time to ponder the conclusions.  Resting on ‘unimaginably ignorant’ rather than ‘guilty’ seems a tough sell.  Especially when she’s running as the most qualified person to hold the office.

This week’s tragic events have taken some of the focus away from the dismal conclusions.  Nonetheless, people are still scratching their heads.  Are we sure we want a president who was only monumentally careless, if not downright stupid, when it comes to classified documents?  It speaks volumes when you’re running against a candidate like Donald Trump, yet you struggle to keep the polls out of the margin of error.  Perhaps America isn’t beyond hope after all.

Go here to read the comments.  So, what do we know?  As Secretary of State, in violation of Federal law, Clinton set up a private e-mail account on which she conducted her official business along with private matters.  On that e-mail account she had some classified material in violation of federal law. Throughout the investigation by the FBI Clinton made various statements about her e-mails that were lies.

So what don’t we know?  Her lawyers deleted tens of thousands of e-mails and we do not know what was in those e-mails.  We do not know whether this e-mail account was hacked by unfriendly powers.  We do not know why Clinton set up this private e-mail account.  If her e-mail accounts were hacked, we do not know what potential blackmail material private individuals or foreign powers may possess against Clinton.

Oh yes, this e-mail scandal is just starting and not concluding.

Daffey Thoughts is now at Patheos.  Regular readers of this blog know that I tend not to think much of the Catholic blogs at Patheos, viewing them as largely heterodox and left leaning.  I believe that Daffey Thoughts will prove an exception to this general rule.

My explanation for Comey’s non-indictment: Clinton, Inc. has photographs of him doing something horrid. Bottom line: the law only applies to Republicans, like Scooter Libby.

T Shaw, the Clintons don’t have to have real evidence. They can create it out of thin air and the garbage media like the Washington Compost would treat it as fact.

Charles Krauthammer has given what I think is the best explanation for what Director Comey has done.

Like Chief Justice John Roberts and his convoluted decision to uphold ObamaCare, Director Comey didn’t want to go down in history as the man who recommended, in this instance, the criminal prosecution of the Democratic nominee for President, thus “changing the course of American political history. Like Chief Justice Roberts, find a way, some way, to avoid having to do it. Thus the “there was no intent,” angle when the statute clearly doesn’t require proof of intent in order to prosecute.

Comey was in fact intimidated by the import, and significance, of his task.

Yes my other, I would agree. The left screamed about Bill Clinton’s impeachment, and even more so over the 2000 Florida recount case. Roberts and Comey did not want to be cast as the latest deniers of progress.

Carelessness with e-mails is one thing, and to most folks doesn’t sound criminal, but the real issue is willful concealment of potentially nefarious and treasonous activities like accepting bribes from foreign governments under the guise of the Clinton Foundation. Hopefully, something about this will emerge before the election.

MD: Truth.
.
The purpose of Mrs. Bill Clinton’s private server was not the transmittal of top secret info, it was evading detection of numerous criminal activities of the corrupt racket which is Clinton, Inc.
