Civil War III?

The Left in this country is increasingly deranged.  They have long adopted the tactics of shouting down adversaries and engaging in street thuggery.  Not all Leftists approve of such tactics, but, as perusing almost any Leftist web site demonstrates, Leftist activists cheer on these measures.  Now the Left has taken to hounding administration officials, usually women, in public places and at their homes.

In a country that has known two civil wars, the American Revolution was a civil war as well as a war against British rule, this is all very dangerous.  Social media helps give a megaphone to extremists, and modern technology allows mobs to be summoned at a moment’s notice.  The Left has developed the charming habit of referring to anyone who disagrees with them as racist.  A term increasingly popular on the Left is Nazi for those having the temerity not to be Leftist.  Mark Shea recently called people who support the border policy of the Administration as being Devil Worshipers.   This is the language of hysteria and not the language of normal politics.  Sooner or later this is going to end in a violent battle, and once shooting starts it may well spread throughout the nation.

I have often wondered what the reaction of the leaders North and South would have been if, after election day 1860, some time traveler from the future had brought them into a room and demonstrated, with irrefutable evidence, that a course was being charted which would lead to 750,000 dead, leaving behind countless orphans and widows, in the next few years and a section of the nation devastated.  I think they would all have been appalled, and developed compromises to avoid our Civil War.  Perhaps that demonstrates too much optimism on my part as to the power of the better angels of our nation.  Alas, no such time traveler visited 1860, and no time traveler will visit our time to detail the human cost of the current folly that is taking us down a very dark path.

It appears it will get violently ugly very soon. Eighteen to twenty four months.
Prepare accordingly. Expect the USCCB to be fully on the side of the Left.
Again, prepare your home, your family and yourself, for a survival struggle.

I agree with Ranger01. If Trump wins in 2020, then the left will react violently in refusing to accept his victory. If Trump loses in 2020, then the backlash against conservative Christians by the left will be unremitting and merciless. Either way, Ranger01 is sadly correct. There is no common ground, no dialogue to be had with the left. 🙁 The tree of liberty is about to be pruned.

I wonder if Mr. McClarey would sometime discuss civil-stalking law and injunctions, from his perspective.

I know that when I was in Arizona, some of a well-meaning but over-zealous Rosary group decided to show up at the home of an abortion MD, which of course got them in legal hot water for a time. Of course, the old bishop in Phoenix used to have his pastors slap everyone who disagreed with them with a TRO for 1 year—very easy to get in AZ, and of course, everyone respects (or they used to, now might be different) a “Catholic priest pastor”, poor fellow. No one (except Nancy Pelosi perhaps) loves abortion doctors, but this action of stalking their residences and their ordinary daily pursuits was/is close to getting to a flash-point, to allow such close proximity for highly emotional (or in the case of the Demonrats, irrationally enraged) opponents, and something regrettable might happen..again. But in light of the June 14, 2017 James K. Hodgkinson assassination attempt on Steve Scalise and others, there have to be limits on following, blocking, screaming-in-the-face, pushing, shoving, or otherwise harassing people.

By the way, the civil suit against the City of San Jose by several Trump supporters who were assaulted while the police—under orders from the top to do nothing, did nothing—that civil suit is proceeding (granted standing to sue in Mar 2017) and looking bad for the City according to those who supposedly in-the-know here. Thank you, Mayor Sam Liccardo—who hopes for higher Dementiacrat office some day. You can be VP on the Maxine Waters-Liccardo 2020 presidential ticket.

It is a religion for them. Mostly based only on faith and virtue. And now they believe in the confessional state again.

If there are many more events like that which recently happened at the Red Hen Restaurant in Lexington, VA (whose Democrat owners required Sarah Huckabee and her family to leave for no other reason than the identity of her employer), then civil war is not far off at all.

“I know that when I was in Arizona, some of a well-meaning but over-zealous Rosary group decided to show up at the home of an abortion MD,” The public square and sidewalk belong to each and every citizen in joint and common tenancy. Praying on a sidewalk is free speech. Praying on a sidewalk is not kicking, shoving, battering, screaming, cursing, or threatening.
Any law can be broken to save a life, especially a life denied his personhood to be alive. Human Life is one of our constitutional Posterity.

If you’re going to count the American Revolution as a Civil War, at least the War for Texas Independence should count, too, and arguments could be made for a few others.

I suspect leaders from the North and South would have rejected the idea of historical determinism implicit in the presentation you suggest. At any rate, they should. The outcome of a war is not the result of just one choice, but of many choices made each day by each person. The most a time traveler should hope for would be to sweep aside some of the extremely naive optimism that was so widespread before that war — as it is before many wars.

The Texan war for Independence being the one successful Mexican civil war would work for me, but not really relevant for American Civil Wars.

Sometimes the sidewalk is public property, but showing up at someone’s house is an implicit threat. Literally, I know where you sleep.

It’s very hard to imagine an event that could trigger another civil war in the U.S. About the only thing might be a John Wilkes Booth style assassination conspiracy that succeeds in taking out one ideological side of the Supreme Court at a time when the other side controls the elective branches, and it fails to re-balance the court.

This comment is for Mary in her response to Foxfier. Did you feel that way when bus loads of paid(Soros) protestors(agitators) were bused to Bankers houses in the Bank Scandels and they threatened the famalies and stood on their lawn angry and shooting and intimidated a child of a banker in his own house. probably not. People PEACEFULLY praying the Rosary is hardly the same thing. They were on the sidewalk which is legal. The agitators were in the Bankers lawn which is illegal.

The left is totalitarian. Somewhere among them are those that want to “radicalize” both ends of the spectrum. They think a civil war will result in a dictatorship. It happened in Germany and Italy between the wars.

Here is their mistake. They aren’t too smart. They want socialism. One side has 400 million guns and eight trillion bullets. The other doesn’t know what bathroom to use.

The country is about to go “full Weimar.”

The author appears to only focus on one side of the equation – the left side. What of trump’s referral to Latin immigrants as “animals” who are “infesting” the country? What of the referral to participants in the the blatantly white nationalist march in Charlottesville, where a protester opposing the white nationalists was killed by a white nationalist, as “good people?” And when he pines for more immigrants from Norway, why Norway? To suggest that there hasn’t been a resurgence in white nationalism and blatant racism from the top down is to deny any sense of reality.

Gerard. No law was broken by the people praying the ROSARY on the sidewalk. The courts have defined the area as lawful. Even so, had anyone of the peaceful protesters stepped onto the lawn, any law can be broken to save a human life. He might have had legal repercussions, but he and all persons are within their right of citizens’ arrest to end the murder of an unborn sovereign person.

John The gangs of M 13 murderers are beings without conscience with the intent to murder who are infesting the country. fact. Every man pays for his own sins, especially the murderer. Have no fear, Divine Justice will triumph.

What of trump’s referral to Latin immigrants as “animals” who are “infesting” the country?

The willingness of the Left to conflate my neighbor Caesar– legal, nice guy, the kind of dude who sees a gal running around trying to find the water turn-off for the house and comes over to help– with a nasty Salvadoran gang is rather disturbing, even for a situation where they’ve been willing to ignore the difference between immigrants (those who choose to come to the US in the legal manner, with an eye to settling) and illegal aliens (those who deliberately violate the law to enter or remain in the US, with an eye to personal advantage; criminals).

What of the referral to participants in the the blatantly white nationalist march in Charlottesville, where a protester opposing the white nationalists was killed by a white nationalist, as “good people?”

The protest was of removing a statue of Robert E. Lee.
Although it may be rhetorically comforting for you to insist that everyone who opposes your preferred editing of history is a “white supremacist,” it’s false. Same way that conflating MS-13 with those who legally immigrate is false.

The woman died because the police did nothing to stop “AntiFa” from violently attacking the protesters who had a permit to protest, and when they shut down the legal protesters they were supposed to be protecting, they ordered the non-violent counter-protesters right through the middle of the AntiFa riot, along with the permit holding protesters.
Deliberately.
Pretty much like Left-controlled police departments have been doing the whole time, where they disarm the people who have permits and are to the right of Stalin, while leaving the illegal AntiFa mobs’ bats, pepperspray, knives, etc alone.
