PopeWatch: Pontifical Academy for Life

Perhaps it should be renamed The Former Pontifical Academy for Life:

The first gathering of Pope Francis’ now overhauled Pontifical Academy for Life did not ease pro-life concerns over its future as the Vatican’s stated new focus for the PAV will turn from abortion and bioethics to include immigration and the environment.

Some are saying the Academy has “lost its way,” that the changes made by the pope “differ drastically” from its founding by Pope Saint John Paul II, or are an “attack” on the pro-life Academy’s mandate.

They question as well an apparent new prioritization of the temporal.

“It’s obvious that being ‘pro-life’ means, even for the academy, to rethink the semantic value of the term life, which cannot be reduced to a perspective that is uniquely bioethical,” Academy president, Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, said at a press conference.

“If we must be pro-life, we must be always, in every way, and everywhere pro-life,” he continued, according to a C-FAM report, citing Pope Francis.

Paglia also said there were no plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the papal encyclical Humanae Vitae next year.

Rather, the Academy is opening “new frontiers for debate,” he said, mentioning in particular the environment, immigration, and arms control.

1. Target a respected institution 2. Kill & clean it 3. Wear it as a skin suit, while demanding respect.

  1. Gruesome.

If we have a capable pope at some point in the next generation, I hope he withdraws from circulation every scrap of paper with Francis’ signature on it.

  2. Let me put a ratio: Pope Francis: Obama :: Next Pope : Trump ????
The modus operandi of Pope Francis and Obama are similar–making drastic changes by executive fiat (e.g the Pontifical Academy for Life, the JPII Institute), …. without taking into account strong feelings against such.
Will there be a schism or will a new pope be able to reform?

  3. Gaia is the spirit of the earth. Gaia is in contradiction of the Creator and the soul of the earth. The earth praises God by being the Earth as man praises God by being man. Gaia demands the praise that belongs to God, alone.
The Blessed Virgin Mary chose God to be her all for all time. The Blessed Virgin Mary is our model in worship and obedience to God.
Illegal immigration is a violation of man’s destiny to be who his soul is created to be. Being complicit in a man destroying and ignoring his destiny is hatred of God and man.

  4. A the so called ‘seamless garment’ approach that has care for the earth at least on par or more important than the care for souls. Just what and who are these people who have been allowed into our hierarchy?

  5. This is all the inevitable part of Vatican II’s ‘New World Order’ outlined in Gaudium et Spes: a world without God and the celebration of Man. See Remnant Newspaper October 15, 2017.

  6. Does Pope Francis care about the salvation of souls? Did the Holy Spirit send us the
Pope we need or the one we deserve? I think he is a chastisement.
