PopeWatch: 213

VATICAN-POPE-AUDIENCE

Today, on the 42 anniversary of the monstrous Roe v. Wade decision, it is good to recall these words of Pope Francis in section 213 of Evangelii  Gaudium

213. Among the vulnerable for whom the Church wishes to care with particular love and concern are unborn children, the most defenceless and innocent among us. Nowadays efforts are made to deny them their human dignity and to do with them whatever one pleases, taking their lives and passing laws preventing anyone from standing in the way of this. Frequently, as a way of ridiculing the Church’s effort to defend their lives, attempts are made to present her position as ideological, obscurantist and conservative. Yet this defence of unborn life is closely linked to the defence of each and every other human right. It involves the conviction that a human being is always sacred and inviolable, in any situation and at every stage of development. Human beings are ends in themselves and never a means of resolving other problems. Once this conviction disappears, so do solid and lasting foundations for the defence of human rights, which would always be subject to the passing whims of the powers that be. Reason alone is sufficient to recognize the inviolable value of each single human life, but if we also look at the issue from the standpoint of faith, “every violation of the personal dignity of the human being cries out in vengeance to God and is an offence against the creator of the individual”.

Amen.

Thank you.Donald. I know this post is a recognition of what the pope is saying right, but – maybe it’s a tough day today, but I can’t help but notice his comment the Church’s efforts on behalf of the unborn subject to ridicule – “ideological, obscurantist, and conservative”
I immediately think of his seeming desire to fit in with the world and the times. I immediately think those three words might be how he himself thinks of us practicing Catholics.

In the first place I don’t understand the obscurantist charge, but otherwise, “I resemble that remark”
.
ideologue dictionary definition › a person who believes very strongly in particular principles and tries to follow them carefully”

I have a whole set of Catholic ideas I hew to, and am conservative to boot. Having an ideology is now worthy of ridicule since the really smart people know you canNot have an an ideology because no idea or set of ideas is any better than any other– all relative.
Being an ideologue means you are not a relativist… is that not the way the pope wants to be perceived?

In the U.S. Catholics, church-going Catholics, including the clergy, are the reason abortion-on-demand remains the law of the land. They endorse with their name and support the major organization supporting and promoting abortion. They are the largest single group in the Democratic Party, giving it the electoral power to keep abortion legal, contrary to what they profess to believe (God is the giver of life) and pray for (God’s will to be done on earth) in the Lord’s Prayer every Sunday in Mass standing before the Holy Eucharist.

It is a major sin against the 5th Commandment to merely join an organization like the Nazi Party or the KKK according to Catholic teaching with no exonerating conditions provided. How can joining the Democratic Party that supports and promotes the murder of unborn babies not be a mortal sin?

stilbelieve.

It’s a great question you ask. How indeed? When did I see you hungry?
When did I see you in prison?
When did I see you in your mothers womb…threatened?

Goats, unfortunately, will out number the sheep.

Abortion is murder most foul. The American Medical Association considers it a “medical procedure”. Feminists and pro-aborts talk about the decision “between the woman and her doctor”: presumably the latter is a little god. And anatomy and physiology notwithstanding, the same group babbles about doing what they want with their own bodies. God have mercy on these murderers! The blood and mutilated body parts of the tiny children of God cry out to their Father in heaven!

Sydney O. Fernandes: Only a person may be murdered. The rest is killing. Killing to save the life or convenience of a person seems to be Justice.
.
The legal person exists from the very first moment of existence at fertilization in the womb. Snowflake babies prove and DNA prove that you are exactly right. The human soul is ignored because atheism, the religion of the devil says that there is no human soul. Not one of us, not one of “We, the people” have souls recognized by the state. And we may be killed according to atheism. The free will and intellect, faculties of the rational soul are abrogated, denied and annihilated by atheism.
.
The doctor is playing a little god, nero. The neros of our world have denied their rational souls. Therefore, they do not realize their humanity. They do not realize who they are. Do these belong to “We, the people”? only as incapacitated individuals who cannot be licensed or trusted by “We, the people”
