Good thing he had that bullhorn, commanding their attention, otherwise even the seven might have wandered away….
Truth be told, I always thought president Obama was overrated as a public speaker. Sure, in 2008 there was almost an electrified frenzy because voting for our first black president would finally put our sad legacy or racism behind us. Or so said liberals. Today they deny anyone ever said such a thing. But then it was quite something, and he could deliver quite the high energy speech to keep up with the demands. Until after a year or so of being in a leadership position. Then it all began to crumble. By his second term, his speeches were barely more exciting to watch than GW Bush. And in a bit of a twist, at least IMHO, Bush was better at extemporaneous speaking than Obama, who usually died the death of a thousand ‘uhs’ and ‘ums’ whenever talking off the cuff. Of course everyone said he was one of the greatest orators in history, and it seems everyone else had to agree. But for me, his talents waned quickly, and he was never much after the first year or so of his presidency.
The by-far worst president in US History is not wrong on this.
Seen on Facebook: “The fact that a man with dementia, who can’t handle a regular schedule, who is refusing to answer questions about what he’ll do as President is capable of winning the presidency even as a pay-for-play scandal engulfs his campaign is a sign the country is broken.”
If no one attended an Obama rally/speech, would everything he said still be a lie?
Please. Let’s not forget.
He built it. Obama built it.
I don’t miss Obama’s love affair with himself. At first I thought it was just infatuation but as his presidency proceeded you could see his fatal attraction towards himself.
He built it all right.
Nice gathering…
for a Hillary Clinton book signing that is.
No clue what he’s doing there. I can’t make sense of anything this year.
The corps of historians specializing in American history being how they are, I think it may be a couple of generations before you get a treatment of Obama with the requisite seriousness and integrity. And the smart money says that when you do get that treatment, the conclusion will be that there wasn’t much there there (except petty spite and an odd shtick to conceal).
Art, since you are referencing Obama, your second word should be changed to “corpse”.
I detested Obama’s policies but recognized he is a talented pol.
However, his moment is over. It’s like being Elvis in 1964. Elvis was still a star, but the kids were listening to the Beatles by then.
Trump has the crowds and energy now.
That’s amazing. Even Covid can’t explain that.
We are way past the stage where “White American guilt” elects a president based upon the color of his skin and whether or not he can speak clean. The racist game is over. The only question we have yet to answer is which way is America now heading? 2020 may just be a small bump in the road.
Pray harder folks.
