Do It for Ruth

She lamented the Republican-majority Senate’s continued blocking of Garland from consideration, and its insistence that the next President, to be elected in November, should be the one to appoint a new Supreme Court Justice.

“That’s their job,” Ginsburg said, when asked whether the Senate should give the 63-year-old judge a fair hearing. “There’s nothing in the Constitution that says the President stops being President in his last year.”

Ugh. Thanks for reminding me of that interview, sort of. Remember, Republicans have politicized the Court. But of course, she wasn’t political, she was just a straight-shooter. So she has to be replaced by a liberal to keep the Court in balance. Not that she was liberal, definitely not a judicial activist.

Also, a reminder. The long-standing record for worst politicization of the Court was Biden’s attack on Bork. That was only recently surpassed by Harris’s attack on Kavanaugh. Maybe that’s what the two of them have bonded over.

Talking with a friend over whether Mitch should be consistent with his principles, I think we have figured out a compromise.

Point out that with the Democrats constant talking about fighting the election, we cannot afford to leave the seat open in case there is an election challenge put before SCOTUS.

If, however, the dems pledge and concede that they will abide by the election results, why then we can hold off on the SC nom.

Nothing inconsistent about McConnell’s principles. The principle is about divided control of the Presidency and the Senate, not elections.

Pretty common leftist move is to condemn a conservative for not holding to principles, where in reality the leftist has misinterpreted or just made up said principles. Everyone should be familiar with it from the theological realm, since you’ve almost certainly encountered it in the form of “Jesus said not to judge, so you’d be a hypocrite to say that homosexuality is sinful.”

Just my two cents…..every progressive nominee justice on the SC who believes that the Constitution is a living document as to be interpreted according to current mores of any given time, should be disqualified automatically. Justice Ginsberg fit that description. May she Rest In Peace……. but one down or more to go.

Every free man is his Supreme Court.

The problem is too much government power over every single aspect of your life. The next is judges legislating from the bench based on myth, superstition and unicorn farts. No elected legislature would have come up with the crap judges have.
