Our new Patty Hearst?? There’s are lots of these patsies out there, useful idiots for their elite manipulators.
Franklin and Marshall College seems a pretty woke place, no doubt drunk on federal backed student backed loans. Perhaps if a college is denied access to those loans because students are caught rioting and arson, they might tone down the rhetoric.
.
Honestly, I can think of no better punishment for this idiot than to be required to assist in rebuilding what she destroyed, or similar if the owner decides not to rebuild.
.
Hanging drywall is not that hard, but it is cumbersome. That’s HANGING drywall. I have no experience with sanding or taping it, but I hear the sanding part is miserable.
.
I would much rather these empty heads be offered a deal to be in a minimum security prison and then chain gang in some kind of construction project, earning token money for food , water, and shelter for two years, than simply three hot meals, a cot, and TV, completely on tax payers’ dime.
.
I suppose having to learn a trade would be considered cruel and unusual punishment, however. And it may not even be practical.
If my own impression and experience being employed in such places is any guide, roughly 30% of the students are the children of wealthy and/or influential people, roughly 40% of professionial-managerial types who are not wealthy or influential, roughly 20% common-and-garden bourgeois, and roughly 10% are from wage-earning families. The sticker price you see quoted by people like Robert Stacy McCain might be paid by 1/3 of the students enrolled. Various sorts of discounts are available. We have among our circle of friends a very impecunious family whose daughter was unusually bright (and a low grade disciplinary problem). She landed a full ride at Hamilton College. (I wish she’d landed a full ride at some other school; she doesn’t talk complete rot the way some of her peers do, but I wish she sounded more like her old neighbors than like…a Hamilton College student).
Everyone’s family life is different, but it’s a passable wager that what stands behind this young woman’s grotesque silliness is a pair of parents who elected to let it slide and rely on the media, peer-cultures and school teachers to educate their daughter. That’s defensible when the subject is chemistry.
“Useful idiots for their elite manipulators.” So true. I almost wouldn’t care except for the fact they are someone’s sons and daughters. Although, I don’t feel too sorry for any parent who fails to teach his/her child that playing with fire, literally or figuratively, is a bad idea.

Robert Stacy McCain believes her father is this chap, employed as the chief English teacher at Mercersberg Academy. The academy appears to be a boarding school located in Franklin County, Pa, in the section of Pennsylvania that’s vaguely oriented toward Baltimore and Washington. So, common-and-garden middle class, likely less affluent than the usual sort at Franklin-and-Marshall.
I have done drywall finish work on a number of houses, both mine and for hire. It is good, hard, honest work that gives a real sense of accomplishment for those who understand good, hard, honest work.
Which undoubtedly rules her out.
