Well it has been one year since the occupation of Saint Peter’s ended with the resignation of Pope Francis. What a remarkable year it has been! The election of Cardinal Sarah as Pope Pius XIII. His calling of Trent II in order, in his words, to correct the errors of Vatican II and to heal the breach in the life of the Church it created. The deaths of both the two Pope Emeriti eliminated an anomaly created by the resignation of both the immediate predecessors of Pope Pius. His acceptance of resignations from half the bishops and a third of the cardinals indicate that his will be a papacy to chart a new course from that of Pope Francis, as his appointments demonstrate. (Father Z will make a great cardinal!) Pope Pius has indicated that a prime initiative for his pontificate will be–
