Saint Donald lived in what would become Scotland in the Eighth Century. He formed a hermitage with his Nine daughters, known to history as the Nine Maidens or the Nine Holy Virgins. (Cheaper presumably than paying for weddings for each one.) After his death they entered a convent. Eventually many churches in Scotland would be dedicated to them.
