Woke Racism

An odd anti=white racism where the perpetrators are lily white.  Some Leftists see this for the dangerous nonsense it is:

A core principle of the academic movement that shot through elite schools in America since the early nineties was the view that individual rights, humanism, and the democratic process are all just stalking-horses for white supremacy. The concept, as articulated in books like former corporate consultant Robin DiAngelo’s White Fragility (Amazon’s #1 seller!) reduces everything, even the smallest and most innocent human interactions, to racial power contests.

It’s been mind-boggling to watch White Fragility celebrated in recent weeks. When it surged past a Hunger Games book on bestseller lists, USA Today cheered, “American readers are more interested in combatting racism than in literary escapism.” When DiAngelo appeared on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon gushed, “I know… everyone wants to talk to you right now!” White Fragility has been pitched as an uncontroversial road-map for fighting racism, at a time when after the murder of George Floyd Americans are suddenly (and appropriately) interested in doing just that. Except this isn’t a straightforward book about examining one’s own prejudices. Have the people hyping this impressively crazy book actually read it?

DiAngelo isn’t the first person to make a buck pushing tricked-up pseudo-intellectual horseshit as corporate wisdom, but she might be the first to do it selling Hitlerian race theory. White Fragility has a simple message: there is no such thing as a universal human experience, and we are defined not by our individual personalities or moral choices, but only by our racial category.

Matt Taibbi, via Ed Driscoll at Instapundit.  Go here to read the rest.  As Instapundit has noted, in America culture wars tend to be class wars in disguise.  The fight against “white supremacy”, almost non-existent in contemporary America except for a handful of powerless crazies, is mainly a way for upper class whites to pour vials of hate on the heads of middle and working class whites, and feel good about themselves as they do so.  Think of it as Marxism for the well to do.  They get to cosplay as revolutionaries as they demand that people, usually far worse off than themselves financially, give up their “white privilege”.  As class was an excuse for Communists in the last century to do terrible things and still feel good about themselves, race today is an opportunity for whites locked into the top levels of our society by birth and going to all the right schools, to feel good about themselves as they conduct what can only be called a class war against whites usually less fortunate in life’s lottery than themselves.  This is a true revolution of the haves against the have nots, aided by academic grifters getting rich peddling this truly racist bilge.

All so true. The rich elite Liberal cognoscenti operate the new Ministry of Truth deciding what is politically correct and punishing deviants. They must be blessed in their High Priesthood efforts beginning with all $20 Million per year CEO’s.

And who best to confer highest blessing? None other that the Great Bergoglio, self appointed leader of the ‘Environmental Pagan Socialist Church of the New World Order’.

My sons had said that already, that this is a class war disguised as a race war. They also noticed that many of the big causes that our uppers embrace tend to demand little sacrifice on their part with a willingness to let others give up everything so they look good. I’m thinking Global Warming. And now, think this.

They seek absolution for a lifestyle they don’t have the balls to leave, so it’s the next best thing – round up some peasants and hand them over.

If these people were anything but 24k-sparkly jellyfish, they’d be spending their fortunes rebuilding the grocery stores and repairing the neighborhoods that their addled mobs tore down. But that would be an admission of actual guilt, as well as appear to be contrary to the swarm’s nihilistic disposition, so it all probably goes well beyond the Pale.

Literally moments ago I read the latest reply in a conversation with a friend who mentioned that he’s seen the argument made that members of the My Little Ponies cast are racists.
Relevant to this conversation is:
Applejack is a “hick,” thus she is a white-supremist. Because they all are.

Since this audience probably doesn’t include many bronies, or folks with daughters under 15 or so, I’ll summarize the character as basically constantly working to save the family farm (orchard), to the point that any time there’s a party in the show, Applejack is probably selling apple-related products.
Her magical friendship power is being a genuinely good, kind person. (Described as ‘honesty’, encompassing both telling you stuff you don’t want to hear, and a tendency to go “oh, for heaven’s sake!” and fix a situation herself.)

The not-very-passive-at-all aggressive comments just write themselves, don’t they?

Foxfier, you wound me. 😉 We all know that MLP is a star trek spin off – so of course I watched it.

Here is an article IN THE ATLANTIC making the “racist bronies” argument.

And here is clownfishTV mocking the New York Post for making similar arguments.

Come now, even Garak himself would have trouble making the case that two is many!

There were leaked emails discussing the next generation of My Little Pony where they discussed wanting to make Applejack a black stereotype complete with ebonics. Unfortunately I can’t find the e-mails now because the old archives of them have been scrubbed and in searches I can only find people discussing them, not the actual e-mails. But from what I recall the reasons for this change were to increase “diversity” and because the show writers were really, really, uncomfortable with southerners or generally anyone from outside the city being shown in a positive light.

Because heaven forbid the literal rainbow of characters not be easily inserted into standard New York City prejudices.

I suspect if one were to take the trouble of looking up Michael Crichton’s essay on the religious character of environmentalism, and substitute woke anti-racism appropriate terminology for environmental terms, it would read just as well.

BLM is even more of a religion than radical environmentalism. It has saints (such as George Floyd) and rituals (such as having whites kneel in submission to blacks). The supporters use openly religious language and there is only the slightest attempt to tie things back to the real world.

The environmentalists always try to convince you that the Earth is going to be destroyed within a decade, so that environmentalism is just self-preservation. Sure, they’ll get into Earth mother language once you’ve bought into things, but it comes later. And it’s always tempered in how extreme it gets by the abundance of edgy atheists in the movement.

BLM is all about acts of ritual penitence right from the get go.

waggles hand

They are using the rituals, yes– look at the difference in targets, though. The Creator, the great I Am, vs…a bunch of entitled thugs. (Why do I feel like I should be apologizing to Kali?)

Same old human problem– some people want the respect that is due only to God.
