They agree with the Puritans in their fear that if society (them) does not exercise total control over certain behaviors the world will end. The old Puritans feared one individual’s sins (if uncorrected by the community) would bring the wrath of God down on all (as in the case of Achor). These new sort fear the same thing with regard to “hate”, the environment and so forth.
“Bad things will happen to all of us if you don’t stop it!”
It’s solidarity gone rogue and metastasized into an all-devouring cancer of political correctness.
