Once again, the Babylon Bee prints something w.a.y. too close to the truth.

Their writers are better journalists than most of the MSM.
I had a dear friend who was born in 1920 and died in 2009. He was a policy wonk who also embraced with gusto street level politics. Contemporary liberal culture is something very foreign to his way of being. It’s almost entirely devoted to harassment of a menu of subcultures held in contempt (and mo’ money for various and sundry favored clientele).
As our liberal “betters” in Europe begin reopening their economies, the US left will watch very nervously.
So true. My Liberal children are horrified when I say Covid-19 is mostly bogus and that the government should not have shut down the economy and instead accepted the deaths as collateral damage to keeping the economy going. They also added they I was anti-Christian. And further to never, ever send them any more information denying the seriousness of Covid-19. Their minds are completely closed on this subject. Two of them are medical doctors and another is a political commentator on ABC TV,
What Covid-19 reveals is the disease of Liberalism (government knows best) which is truly serious.
Leftism is a cult pure and simple, Michael, and cultists can easily ignore a mountain of facts that go against the cult.
Leftism is a psychological pathology. Maybe Lemmings is a better descriptor.

It didn’t used to be in North America. You can get an idea of what it used to be by looking at some among the older generations who have stuck to their guns (see Alan Dershowitz or Jerilyn Merritt). One of the few among younger cohorts who has been making a positive contribution to public discourse has been Harold Pollack. Pollack is bearing down on 60.
I get to see what street-level Democrats are thinking when it comes in over our Facebook wall. (We have Republican friends as well; they use Facebook to post pictures of their grandchildren). It’s almost unadulterated cr!p, all of it. It’s so bad it calls into question the character and intelligence of the people posting it.

True. The good old days.
A canary in the coal mine here is how both the media and street-level Democrats are treating Tara Reade’s allegations against Joseph Biden. I have yet to encounter a partisan Democrat in any forum who has been willing to say explicitly that Christine Blasey Ford was not a credible accuser, even though neither she nor any other party ever presented evidence that Blasey had ever met Brett Kavanaugh or Mark Judge. Not an old Polaroid, not a diary entry, not a piece of sworn or unsworn testimony by a third party, nothing. I got a frustrating song-and-dance with a pair of liberal evangelicals (one at Bethel College, one at Messiah College) on this issue. How do they respond to this absence of data. The bum at Messiah studiously ignores it and pretends he hasn’t been taking a position by re-posting this and that. The bum at Bethel gets himself lost in a prolix and irrelevant labyrinth about ‘trauma’.
