In the radio blackout, I opened the little plastic packages which contained the bread and the wine. I poured the wine into the chalice our church had given me. In the one-sixth gravity of the moon, the wine slowly curled and gracefully came up the side of the cup. Then I read the Scripture, “I am the vine, you are the branches. Whosoever abides in me will bring forth much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing.” I had intended to read my communion passage back to earth, but at the last minute [they] had requested that I not do this. NASA was already embroiled in a legal battle with Madelyn Murray O’Hare [sic], the celebrated opponent of religion, over the Apollo 8 crew reading from Genesis while orbiting the moon at Christmas. I agreed reluctantly. I ate the tiny Host and swallowed the wine. I gave thanks for the intelligence and spirit that had brought two young pilots to the Sea of Tranquility. It was interesting for me to think: the very first liquid ever poured on the moon, and the very first food eaten there, were the communion elements. And of course, it’s interesting to think that some of the first words spoken on the moon were the words of Jesus Christ, who made the Earth and the moon — and Who, in the immortal words of Dante, is Himself the “Love that moves the Sun and other stars.”

In the 1960’s America was reading about Neil Armstrong and landing on the Moon. In 2019, America is screaming about Ilhan Omar and Twitter.
Hope and Change.
Faith is a gift from God. Atheists aka Madalyn Murray O’Hair are too proud to ask “their Creator” for the gift of Faith.
The Supreme Court told O’Hair that she could go her own way. Freedom from religion is not in our First Amendment because each and every person must follow his own conscience. A lawsuit to force a person other than oneself to follow atheism is the damnedest most stupid thing ever.
I had never heard this before. What a beautiful gesture of thanks and worship.
God bless Buzz Aldrin, and I pray he will find the true Faith before he leaves this life.
We watched a nearly full moon rise last night.
The beautiful pink/purple sky, God’s canvas, was ready for that orb to take center stage.
His works are truly amazing. Only second to His love. This act from Buzz Aldrin is only one masterpiece in the gallery which God owns and shares with His children.
To delight in His works is an honor.
To allow Him to use you in His on going creation is an expression of His love and yours. A partnership par excellance.

July 20,1969 was the Apollo 11 moon landing. We are celebrating the 55th Anniversary. There are celebrations taking place across the country according to a news article that I read. This would be a good time to view the Apollo 11 documentary that made the rounds of the movie theaters a ways back. It is based on pristine film footage of the Apollo mission that was found in the National Archives. The film only uses archival footage. It was shot on a mix of film sizes. Some as large as 65mm, and 70mm engineering film. Much of it very high quality images.

The HBO mini-series “From the Earth to the Moon” a docudrama of Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo shows a scene of Buzz doing what is stated in the article. I’m not sure what the proper Catholic way to describe it is.
