I had not intended this for publication, but a recent attempt by criminals to subject one of my computers to ransomware has caused me to give this internet “immortality” by publishing it here. Those who wish to may conclude that these “sightings” are the product of the mind of a Father crushed by grief. Faithful readers of this blog, who know how I attempt to adhere to facts when writing about History and the Law, may decide that I am being truthful when I state that what is written below is a purely factual account. I will update this in the future as necessary.
Larry Sightings:
1. Toilet paper on floor next to toilet bowl in upstairs bathroom on May 21, 2013. (Larry in life was in the habit of constantly putting a length of toilet paper on the floor at the right side of the toilet bowl in the upstairs bathroom, where the lengths of toilet paper have been found since his death. Each time one has been found since the date of his death on May 19, 2013, the other members of the family have denied putting it there.)
2. Larry’s grandmother reported unexplained chimes at night in her house beginning the evening of May 18-19, 2013.
3. A glove that looked like one of Larry’s was found in the new car of his Grandmother on May 26, 2013 right before she was returning to Kenosha. Larry had never been in the car.
4. Toilet paper on floor next to toilet bowl in upstairs bathroom on June 1, 2013.
5. At around 1:45 AM on June 8, 2013, Larry’s father heard someone breathing heavily, apparently while sleeping, in Larry’s room, while Larry’s father was up using the bathroom. He assumed it was Donnie, Larry’s brother. The next morning Donnie reported that he had spent the night in the basement due to paint fumes from the recent painting in Larry’s room that occured on June 7.
6. Toilet paper on floor next to toilet bowl in upstairs bathroom on June 16, 2013, around 9:30 PM.
7. Toilet paper on floor next to toilet bowl in upstairs bathroom on November 27, 2013 around 10:12 PM. This was after Larry’s Dad had gone to the gravesite the day before and invited Larry, as crazy as it sounds, to visit for Thanksgiving.
8. November 26, 2014, Thanksgiving Eve after dark. Mary was walking Cali the family dog and found the van unlocked and the lights on. (Larry in life was in the habit of sneaking out and listening to music in the family cars, much to his father’s annoyance.)
9. November 26, 2014, Thanksgiving Eve after dark. Donnie found a bath drawn in the upstairs bathroom and had no recollection of running the water for a bath. (Larry in life took a bath every evening.)
- Larry’s dad the Sunday before in 2014 had invited Larry’s soul to visit the house on Thanksgiving as he did last Thanksgiving Eve in 2013.
11. Since purchasing our new Transit Connect in November of 2017, we have had several occasions on which the windows have been rolled down. This is impossible to do, as the vehicle locks automatically and the windows are power windows. The latest occasion was while we were in Kenosha on vacation on July 27, 2019. After we arrived at my mother-in-law’s house, and before we left for lunch, Donnie reported that he witnessed the windows in the Transit Connect all being down. Larry always loved our trips to Kenosha, which were part of our annual vacations.
- Larry’s dad the Monday before had invited Larry’s soul to visit the house on Tnanksgiving in 2020. After lunch on that date, November 26, 2020, a half eaten piece of chocolate silk pie was found on a plate in the living room. No one in the house knew how it had gotten out there. Larry had been fond of chocolate silk pie in life. Prior to the plate being discovered, Larry’s Dad had been surprised to see that so much of the pie had been eaten so quickly as only three pieces for the three people in the house had been cut from the pie.
13. On March 21, 2022 Larry’s Dad and Mom were leaving the law mines for lunch. The windows were half rolled down on their Transit Connect and the car was locked. The car had been left by them prior to this unlocked with all the windows rolled up. This was shortly after they had visited Larry’s gravesite using another vehicle, and his Mom had asked Larry to pray for her sore finger.
14. On August 5, 2022 Larry’s Mom came out and found all the windows on the Transit Connect rolled down. The night before the car had been locked with all the windows rolled up. Also on the day before Larry’s Dad had been reading a biography of Bishop Sheen and noted that he had a mystical experience as a seminarian. Larry’s Dad told Larry’s Mom that when at the beginning of Larry’s funeral he had felt a cool breeze conveying joy and peace such as he had never experienced before or since, he assumed that had been a mystical experience, Larry conveying to his Dad a minute fraction of what he was experiencing in Heaven.
These are just reminders from Larry that , in case you all had forgotten , he is still a vital member of the family. He obviously loved the family very much.
My then-girlfriend had a very vivid dream in which her father told her very clearly that “I like this one the best.”
“This one” being me, as it turned out. Sometimes, we get a sign. It appears you are getting several, and for that I am happy for you, Don.
“And therefore as a stranger give it welcome.
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”
I’m not sure this is the right thing to write, but it kinda thundered into my head:
“What part of outside of time and space is hard to understand?”

Understanding may be relatively easy– believing something you desperately wish for, less so.
So you get reminders…although the toilet tissue seems like a Father Brown mystery level note. (Translation: seems silly, is actually deep.)
I think Foxfier’s comment about space-time is correct.
Today’s reading from Romans; 8:12-17 reads, “If we are children, we are heirs as well: heirs of God, heirs with Christ, if only we suffer with Him so as to be glorified with Him – Romans 8:17
The suffering you and your family shoulder each day from the loss of Larry is a suffering shared by Christ. He shares it, carrying some of the weight when it’s impossible to do it yourselves.
Can he not also share some of His glory too?
As an heir, and a faithful loving one at that, He may be allowing these moments as a kiss or hug from Larry to you and your family. Why not? I certainly don’t know, however what if this was a kind reminder of his, Larry’s, unending love for you. He too is an heir of the Father’s Kingdom. It is possible that Grace is being shared…Larry style…to say to you..Hi Mom, Hi Dad…I Love You.

I thank you for your kind words my friends. I have always held that death cannot conquer love, and I guess Larry is intent on demonstrating that.
I’ve had a communication 3 times. I was with each of my parents when they died. 1. About a month after his death, I saw my father’s shadow at the end of a hall and heard his voice telling me not to be so hard on my oldest son, that he was a good lad. 2. Around the first anniversary of my mother’s death, I kept having a recurring vivid dream that I was dying. As a result I went to the doctor and ended up in a cardiac unit. I’m healed now. When I told a dear friend about my father’s “visit” she told me that in her experience a deceased loved one often communicates one last good-by; could be a dream or a touch on the shoulder or a voice. 3. This same friend was in a very unhappy marriage and was later diagnosed with a degenerative disease. Our daily phone calls gradually ceased. I left short messages on her phones, sent Mass cards or whimsical cat cards always with the same message, “Please, just let know you are okay.” Sometimes my phone would ring with her CID, but there was no voice on the line. One week a pen would roll off my kitchen counter while I was working at it. First time I thought I knocked it; subsequent times it started to bother me. Then one morning of that week I had a voice mail from her husband telling me her ashes had been interred the day before; that she had spent 10 weeks in the hospital and a stroke had left her mute. I was recounting the story to an employee and out of nowhere a bit of cat hair floated down and landed on my hand. We decided it was my friend telling me she was finally okay. I apologize for my wordiness.
So I absolutely believe that Larry has visited your home on those occasions. When he left this earth it was abrupt without family members present. Maybe Larry is trying to assuage your grief and give you some peace. It’s his positive gift letting you all know he’s okay and that he loves you.
I’m very sorry for your loss. My brother was dying of cancer 20 years ago. On this particular day as he and his wife were taking a ride in the car, my brother said he saw my late father waving at him from a corner. His wife dismissed it as an aftereffect of chemo, painkillers, etc. Later on in the evening they went to bed as normal. In the middle of the night, my brother woke up his wife while sitting up and said our dad was smiling at him from the foot of the bed. Again, she dismissed his hallucinations and told him to go back to sleep. The next morning he died having coffee. The family believes that my Dad was there to escort my brother to the hereafter.
I have had several paranormal experiences throughout my life so I believe your son’s indirect appearances seem very authentic. If you haven’t already, I would suggest having 30 Gregorian Masses said for him. These types of appearances are usually a sign requesting prayers for their soul.
P.S. Although I miss him terribly, I have no desire to see my Dad any time soon!

I believe it. I know that when my time comes Larry will be there to help guide me into the next world.
Last night my friend invited us and our mission priest and a visiting Indian priest over for dinner. Her house is located on the river with windows across the front of the water side. The wind was close to a gale. Fron the dining table we watched the porch rockers, rocking like crazy. She’s a widow of 12 years and told us that being on the river was her husband’s favorite place, especially after he was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She said several years after he died it was stormy night. The wind was so strong she brought 2 of the rockers inside. The storm subsided but one rocker on the porch was still rocking. Then she realized that the rocker was a reflection in the windows of the rocker brought inside. The rocker kept rocking until she called her friend to tell her, “Jack is here”. She said that she wished she hadn’t made the call and just talked to the rocker instead bringing him up to date on their children and grandchildren.
Signs to you and the family that Larry wants you to pray for his soul. You’re very Blessed Don that your dear Larry is visiting you. Very Blessed.
I love this so much. Treasure all of these. They are real and they are meaningful.
I call the toe of bonds that form between loving Christian parents & children “soul bonds.” There are no words in English to describe how strong those bonds are. I seriously don’t believe we can understand all there is to know about soul bonds this side of Heaven. Those bonds are so very strong in all ways, but adding the new birth of salvation in Christ to the mix means that soul bonds are eternal.

I am fortunate to care for my adult autistic brother. Although at times he can be very trying, as many autistics often are, when we need him to particularly pray the rosary with us for someone in dire need— it has to be explained thoroughly to him—we have found he has a unique pipeline to the Lord of Hosts, no doubt about it.
Some years ago, when my father suddenly passed away, but before Joe had been informed, he commented to me, “Dad on Highway to Heaven.” (And if anyone deserved to go straight to heaven, it had to be my limitlessly patient World War II-vet, ever-kind father.) How did he know? (Just a rhetorical question.)
..Speaking of which when we say the Rosary next, I need to ask him to ask Our Lord for His intervention for the people of Ukraine..
Steve, I keep praying for a sign in the sky or an apparition that gives hope to the Ukrainians and at the same time freaks out the invading Russian military, so they retreat. Or some disturbing sign over the Kremlin.

Thanks, Don, for sharing this, and thanks to all the others as well. I have no doubt about the fact or the significance of events such as are described here. There is so much we don’t know about how this created universe works, we would be fools to claim anything is impossible. And we know from pure reason as well as from Scripture that nothing is impossible for God.
One night in the spring of 1988, I woke up from a sound sleep at 3:05 AM and was still awake 15 minutes later, feeling disturbed but not knowing why, when the phone rang. It was my Mom calling to tell me Dad had lost his battle with cancer and emphysema-at 3:05 AM.

Such premonitions are a well documented feature of our life here below. They remind us that our brief existence here is part of a much greater whole as saints and sages continually tell us.
