Friend of the blog H.W. Crocker III, historian and novelist, pointed out this statement above by Senator Ted Cruz of Texas to me. It is easy to be wise after an election, but he saw this coming before the election. Days before the election he announced that from what he had seen unless every Republican in Texas came out and voted for the Republican ticket, the Republicans were in jeopardy of losing every state wide office. I thought he was being alarmist, but instead he was being prophetic.
I think all this is a blessing in disguise. The Republican party in many parts of the nation had become too fat and corrupt, with too many politicians lining their own pockets and paying only lip service, if that, to what the party purported to stand for. Now the worst elements in our political life are in the saddle in Congress. With determination and hard work this can be reversed. Other than the people, Republicans and conservatives can rely on two forces: God, who much of the Left hate and fears, and the Democrat party. God helps them who help themselves, we being His instruments on Earth. Democrats because their policies lead to economic stagnation, lack of freedom and insane social policies and become places that people flee from.
We have been here before. In the now forgotten Congressional elections in 1958, the GOP lost 48 House seats, and 13 Senate seats, the Democrats also gaining two Senate seats by winning both Senate races in the newly minted state of Alaska. That gave the Democrats a 283 majority in the House against 153 Republicans and in the Senate 64 Democrats to 34 Republicans. The Republicans would not control Congress again until after the 1994 elections.
Time in the political wilderness is never pleasant, but it is often fruitful. So may it be now.

Donald, I’m still having difficulties finding any news reports about the Republicans rioting because they didn’t like their election results. Why do you suppose that is?
A difficult election to be a part of, and one, I’m sure, that will lead to an even more bitter 2028 election. In the past couple of years, The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, has come to mean so much to me. It reminds me that in the mess that is America at times, Jesus still in King, and rules this world and the universe, no matter what.
the pope.. the supposed Vicar of Christ.. the Voice which ought to say Dear Brethren WE…
voted as “just one vote among millions” and surely partisan blue..,
that’s bigger news, ominous and a deeper wilderness…
I watched the Senator Cruz speech on YouTube this morning. How many times the voters have given the GOP the opportunity to do what we elected them to do and watch them fail at it….
So many years ago the crackpot Carville said, “It’s the economy, stupid!”
It’s ALWAYS the economy.
Endless trillion dollar deficits, no federal budget in decades, credit card interest rates are ridiculous even for good customers, home prices, gas, diesel, groceries, health insurance..
While I’m at it, a special thanks to the likes of John Thune, Lisa Murkowski, Thom Tillis, Mitch McConnell and a posthomus thank you to John McCain and the voters who mindlessly elected and reelected them for decades or being pathetic backstabbers.
Dishonorable mention to John Roberts, and for that matter the whole stupid Supreme Court for refusing to consider the blatantly unconstitutional redistricting by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and the law allowing mail in ballots that violated the Pennsylvania Constitution.
Great work. They should be ashamed. All of them.
