I knew several Canadians when I lived in the Philippines. They also carried British passports in addition to Canadian. Never got a completely straight answer for the necessity of the dual escape hatch.
Canada, to make you feel better, we will gladly take Alberta and Saskatchewan off your hands in exchange for you taking Minnesota and Maine.
When I saw my Canadian relatives recently (all live between Toronto and Hamilton), they asked how we could tolerate “Drumpf” (yes, they actually used that name 🙄). My father went off on a rant about Trump, and I just smirked and said “very easily! Would you like to know more?”
I’m dying to know what they think about the Lake America renaming.
