Something for the weekend. A musical rendition of Kipling’s poem The Sons of Martha (1907) which seems appropriate for a Labor Day weekend. My Bride has always had a great deal of sympathy for hard working Martha and thinks that perhaps Jesus put on a apron to give her a hand after their conversation.
I looked up Kipling’s poem. I was unaware of it. It is a powerful piece of writing. The Biblical reference is to something I have always thought was kind of unfair to Martha.
If Martha had joined Mary at Christ’s feet, then Mary and Martha would have joined in serving Christ.
