You think they run their topics by the Officially Licensed Censors™, a la the twin sergeants in Good Morning Vietnam?
The harm the Cult of Personality that surrounded the papacy of John Paul II is not really discussed here. While it highlighted the stellar parts of his pontificate, it obscured the parts that were not good, like his disastrous tone deaf approach in dealing with the clerical sex abuse scandal and his anti-death penalty advocacy that led to the mass confusion about what the Church actually teaches on the matter and Church teaching across the board. It paved the way to the horrendous 2018 CCC revision by Pope Francis and Leo XIV’s basically equating capital punishment with abortion when he scandalously tried to run interference for Cdl Cupich’s attempt to glaze pro-abort senator Dick Durbin.
Any time I have tried to bring up the problem with (what I call) the “rockstar Pope” I get shouted down with the claim of being either a) disobedient or b) wanting the libs to prevail. Therefore, it never gets anywhere.

The Cult of Personality must be blamed on the not to bright laity, not John Paul II The Dallas Charter erased any good John Paul II did. John Paul II called all the American bishops to Rome and told them: “One crime and the abuser is out.” The US bishops returned to Dallas and disobeyed the Pope, putting Fr. Groschel in charge of returning the abusers back into ministry. Groeschel blamed the sodomy on the 14 year old victims on EWTN for seducing the 30 year old priests and bragged about how few returned to abusing. One victim is one too many.
Priests and consecrated persons may not indulge in the execution of capital punishment. Too many people do not understand the separation of church and state, that being that priests must concern themselves with the metaphysical and the state the physical. Unfortunately even consecrated individuals do not understand their position. Capital punishment is self-defense of innocent people, the state’s job. The killer, being a citizen of the state, the killer brings himself to Justice and is executed through his own power of attorney for the common good.
Thank you for reading. I hope this brings some clarity.

Jesus never said that it was going to be easy…especially with death threats. I used to cry now I am too busy to cry.
