And dropping the bomb, probably saved more Japanese than not dropping the bomb given the fanatical approach of their leaders. Just more hate America for everything. It’s the pox of social media. And it’s driven by the opposite of gratitude, that being envy.
The American Catholic tells me that General MacArthur was in charge of rebuilding Japan and feeding the women and children who were orphaned by the war Japan stared by bombing Pearl Harbor. Japan surrendered several weeks after the bomb fell on Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
Hirohito’s only stipulation in his surrender was that he would remain Japan’s god.
If the atomic bomb saved one innocent American life it was worth it.
Japan torpedoed the Indianapolis with two torpedoes. The Indianapolis sank in minutes leaving over 900 men in the shark infested water. Only about 316 men survived.
