Contemporary popes celebrate dialogue in international affairs as a magic talisman to end wars and conflicts. Intriguingly enough, within the Church, where popes have the opportunity to dialogue all they wish, they are frequently quite peremptory in their commands.

Recall that Leo was active in the ‘peace movement’ of the years running from 1981-84. Peace movements are structural advocates of unilateral disarmament and pretend their own governments are responsible for the issues.
In the modernist Church Synodality looks a lot like spiritual unilateral disarmament. It reminds me of King Solomon’s dialog with his foreign wives that turned his heart away from God. The modernist views on sexual morality appear to be a sexual version of Corban (Mark 7) dividing practice from the teachings by the scribes and Pharisees that Christ denounced in Matthew 23.
