Opening Day (July 3, 1996) for Independence Day is always etched in my mind. Wonderful popcorn film – didn’t take itself too seriously, and was less concerned about The Message™ than later Emmerich films. It also solidified my love of disaster films. And RIP Russell Casse, indeed!
