The Vatican doesn’t have to address it.

The young Catholic men, in action if not in word, say “We want serious Catholicism – f*** Vatican 2.”

The churches that largely ignore his 1960s thought experiment prosper, despite the fist pounding of old men in mitres.

Young men who love the Church are not going to walk away in obedience like the 1970s. I think they’re going to fight.

Yes, they’re putting down the screws on Latin, but orthodoxy is spoken in all languages- and harder to shut up than the priests (who have to fret about obedience and unity.)

May God grant me enough grace not to revel unduly in the bludgeoning the old guard is about to receive.

I pray you are correct, Optimist. As Archbishop Sheen said, it will have to be the laity that restore the Church, because the hierarchy won’t.

The point of Mr. Von Blumenthal is exactly the point also made in the highly researched account, “The Second Vatican Council: An Unwritten Story,” by University of Rome scholar Professor Roberto deMattei.

I suspect a significant force successful in blocking a Council draft condemning communism was the presence of Yves Cougar, OP, who had sympathized with communism in some of his post-war lectures and had a far disproportionate influence at Vatican II than should have been allowed.

The spirit of Vat 2 would have swept through and consumed the present, as is,
whether it had happened or not.

I would dearly love to restore the Church. By what mechanism may I do it besides private prayer?

The Christian Teacher-

You act as if there is a stronger thing than prayer.

There is no stronger thing.

Don’t feel bad, though. The Enemy often (too often) cons me into devaluing prayer too!

The other one thing is refusing to give up. Gavin Ashenden talked about this once in relation to the persistent widow. Not necessarily succeeding, just refusing to give up. “Hold on, just a bit longer. You can’t know how incredibly important it is that you do.”
