Bishop of Naples in the fourth century. Forced into exile, he was replaced by Zosimus, a follower of the Arian heresy. Whenever Zosimus attempted to speak he could not get the words out, which was attributed by the followers of Maximus to his prayers. Maximus would be martyred in 361.
