I am Sure the Vatican Will Take Back the Apology of Pope Francis on the Seventh of Never
Donald R. McClarey
I am so old that I can recall when Popes did not join in obvious Catholic bashing stunts. Many Catholic churches in Canada burned, but Pope Francis got positive coverage in the news media and that is all he ever really cared about. Priorities.
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
This is why nobody should EVER apologize for things they didn’t do.
EVER.
I don’t want some 20 year old German apologizing for the Holocaust to a 20 year old Jew who wasn’t in a camp.
Likewise, I refuse to apologize to the descendant of slaves even if I *were* a dependent of slavers.
Some people want to humble brag on sin. “Oh look how good I look to repent for something you really don’t think is that bad.” Or, in this case, “look how good I look to apologize for something I couldn’t have been involved in or made the slightest difference in when it happened.” It’s like empathy on steroids.
Idiotic – and not a game I’m playing.

I can never remember, is apology retraction a dicastery or a pontifical commission?
Francis also trashed the memory of people who devoted their lives to living in disagreeable locales to impart useful knowledge to the aboriginal population. I’m not sure there was one thing done by that man which could be called salutary.

Here’s what’s going to happen, based on similar events in the past (such as the UVA rape fraud.)
When it becomes clear that the story is completely untenable, the media will admit that it was false. But they will say that it still “started a conversation” about a real issue, in this case the supposed mass exploitation of American Indian children. They will never present more evidence that this problem existed, it will always be assumed to be something shown elsewhere (and every time a fraud is exposed it will be assumed to be shown somewhere else.)
I got no respect for either Francis or Leo XIV. None. Zero.

Even leftwing Canadian Broadcasting admits that at least 33 churches were burned to the ground across Canada between May 2021 and late 2023. The total number others have estimated to be over 50 destroyed.
God knows the Truth.
Lord have mercy.

Why? For what?
