At the reunion in 1913 there was a recreation of Picket’s Charge, and afterwards cold beer for all the veterans. Some of the Confederate veterans told the Union veterans that if there had been cold beer waiting for them in the center of the Union line on July 3, 1863, they never would have been stopped!
