Conclave 2025

Go here to read the story.  If accurate, Pope Leo was the man who Pope Francis wished to succeed him.  Leo was the last kick in teeth to the faithful by Pope Francis.

A more hopeful interpretation:

So tell me, is the content of this article linked below so outrageous that what it states must be categorically rejected?

https://www.lifesitenews.com/blogs/petition-to-cardinals-cant-we-consider-the-possibility-that-francis-and-leo-are-anti-popes/

Prevost is a Chicago politician and Jorge the Heretic was a Marxist Peronist Caudillo. Francis worked to change Church teaching as the article linked above demonstrates, and Prevost does nothing to correct the change. In fact, he works to solidify the change.

I am reminded of John 10:1-21. A heretical shepherd should never be followed. Yes, I would be very uncomfortable at a SSPX parish (despite being a Latinist) because I really don’t like turning tradition into a fetish with antisemitic overtones, but I feel sympathy for SSPX clerics and nothing but disgust, disdain, and contempt for the previous and current Pontiff, and their clerics.

Not too much mystery about the election. North, Central and South America, wanted the guy. No one wanted the idiots who were responsible for the China deal, so Asia was onboard. Pope Leo was very simpatico with the ideas of Pope Francis, so his fans were buying it. I think it’s one of the more explainable elections that I’ve seen.

I still don’t get Cardinals thinking Pope Francis was up for the job. That one will always be a mystery to me.

Probably the one election in my lifetime that really surprised people was Pope John Paul II.

Isn’t Parolin still Secretary of State? That says something.

Andrew Greeley claimed that he and his staff devised a model which correctly predicted the result of both conclaves in 1978. Non ci credo.

CAG: I would be extremely disappointed if the rumors turned out to be true that China is giving the Vatican a large amount of money as part of the treaty, that would be blood money.

Art Deco: I read Greeley’s book “The Making of the Popes 1978” where he makes that claim. Even as a new convert, I took that with a grain of salt! I remember how big and important he was, now, who even reads him? All of his books must be out of print at this point.

@LCG: “ turning tradition into a fetish with antisemitic overtones.”

Indeed, as traditionalist-leaning and “Latinist” as this reader is, the anti-Semitic streaks that bubble up in some traditionalist Latin Catholic groups is disturbing.

Michael Matt, editor of The Remnant trad Catholic magazine has recently once again veered disturbingly into this kind of pulpit pounding and also has become quite political, convinced that Trump is an Israeli puppet as well as unleashing a dictatorship because of the problematic ICE actions in Minneapolis (he is based in Forest Lake, MN).

People come to the trad Mass to escape the madness of the political tumult, convinced that prayer and sacrifice are the answer, and that Our Lord is in control of all matters, and we should pray for our leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-4: “ First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” ESV translation).

I don’t “get” the political handwringing and anti-Semitism, which signifies to me at least, a serious lack of absolute trust in God.

Very good article, LCG, from Life Site News.

This is why to me, Francis and if Leo affirms Francis’ defective teachings, it is an internal schism within the Church (notwithstanding the Denzinger Index axioms that “a pope cannot be in schism”).

As Boniface Luykx noted , the architects of the Vatican II changes did not like the Catholic Church they had received, and decided effectively to split from the Church, to make a new church from deep within it. Luykx was an unimpeachable first hand witness.

Francis and apparently Leo are part of that crowd.
