The surrender of Lieutenant Colonel “Hair Buyer” Hamilton to George Rogers Clark, depicted above, is my screensaver at the Law Mines. Clark was 26 when he accomplished this, giving the US claim to be awarded the Old Northwest in the Treaty of Paris ending the Revolution. The rest of his life was an anti-climax, and not a very happy one, but he and his rugged band performed a feat of arms that has echoed down the centuries.
