This is news to me and as a dog lover I am so gratified by it.

He also stopped the New England England troops from celebrating their very anti-Catholic Guy Fawkes Day, for the sake of the Catholics in the army.
These two stories say *far* more about his character than the dollar thrown across the Rhapahannock or the doubtful cherry tree incident.
