Second thoughts:
In Michelangelo’s Last Judgement there is a person in the lower right hand corner holding a stick upon which is a soul acknowledged to be a self-portrait.
Dali’s hell is similar in the soul literally being forked over.
In hell the inhabitants will be continuing their evildoing for all eternity as they had lived on earth: blasphemy, lying, cheating, stealing, murdering, sodomy, the whole works.
Our Lady of Fatima showed the children hell. The children said that they would have died and fallen into hell if Our Lady had not held them back.
Hieronymus Bosch painted several versions of hell that are so disgusting but more real than Dali.
The headline said: “They have found the head of Satan in Mexico”
OK This is humorous but true. My daughter’s black cat befriended a skunk in the back yard. And there for several months the two got along famously. Every morning our cat sauntered home while the skunk returned to the back woods. Our cat never stunk no matter how much she smooched with the polecat.
Did not realize… Pepé Le Pew was based on real life stories… until now…
Very Cute kittens.
Our ginger cat, growing up, had many litter. They all had different personalities. I recall taking one of the kittens, when I was in Grade 4, to school in shoe box. I made a bed out of tissues and put the kitten in the box would sit on the classroom window bench near the window. The kitten was too small to move. No teacher ever told me off. And my mum let me take an animal to school. Good memories.
Never got round to getting the kids a cat. We have had many birds and if we ever moved house I would love to get a large bird aviary. I love birds. Australian natives are beautiful. Lorikeets, Rosellas, Galahs, even the cheeky Cockatoo. Birds have been a source of messages in my life. I would always spot one as a “sign” of reassurance over something I was worried about at the time…from God ofcourse.
And then there were times bird’s would tap on the window, and soon after we would hear of a dear relative passing.
Anyway, I digress. If you read up till here -thank you. 😊
The adoption service told us that they’d tried to place them separately. One was placed, then returned. So, the option they were offering was to take them as a pair. They have very distinct personalities but are at home with each other bar when the one who likes rough play gives the business to the one who does not. One of them is jealous of the dog and wants her to know who’s boss; the other one ignores the dog.
Hi Mary De Voe.
Two depictions of Hell that resemble the time we are living in, imo, are #1. Pandemonium by John Martin
#2 Dante & Virgil by Bougupteau
The former reminds me of the Leftists stronghold collapsing into the pit.
The latter is the eternal reward, the embrace that was forged through sins of the flesh, unrepentant and unforgiven.
Obviously I’m not schooled in many subjects, art appreciation being one of many, but the embrace seems applicable for the times….but
..timeless I suppose. Sins of the flesh have had a top ranking of Satans “go to” for the ruin of souls.
Btw….
nice kitties :🧐
Pandemonium
Did you adopt those kittens Art?
Well, that was funny. I clicked on Pandemonium, then clicked again for a more detailed view. Then I clicked again and got the Pepe le Pew picture. A bit of a change in motifs.

Excellent letter, imo.
Here’s the feel-good story of the day … apparently Kimmel was axed at the behest of advertisers and affiliates, not the government.
Did you adopt those kittens Art?

IIRC, one was north of a year old. The other was about 10 months. We’ve had them for four years.
Philip:
Thank you for the image of hell. IMHO hell is doing what one did for all eternity. Can you imagine practicing sodomy for all eternity…boring, nothingness and vapid. I also think that the lost souls do not now that they are in hell.
Being drawn into the Beatific Vision for all eternity always and ever more. Heaven.
This day I watch Father Ripperger, the exorcist on YT
Be blessed
Blessings be yours Mary.
Thy will be done.
The last four words an unrepentant sinner will hear before he goes home.
This year I have used the Open Thread to unload myself of the burdens of my nearly 18 year old son. His behavior has not improved but that is all I will say about it today.
This year, I quit watching football. I gave up on college football years ago. This year, no more Pittsburgh Steelers. The NFL has become increasingly boring over the past several years and I have grown sick and tired of the Steelers management, to say nothing of the spoiled brat players.
Steelers founder Art Rooney had a brother who was a missionary Catholic priest in China in the 1930s. The prior and current management has supported Obama and Clinton.
The head coach is a DEI hire. He talks like a Democrat politician.
Last Sunday, I told my son Charlie, as we passed by the stadium filling up with Steelers faithful, that if someone gave me Steeler tickets I would throw them in the garbage. The NFL is woke garbage and I don’t need it anymore.
Yeah, I stopped watching the NFL when they started singing 2 national anthems.
divide and conquer.
Freedom of Speech and press, our First Amendment does not cover pornography. Pornography for the user and for the purveyor are addictive and damaging to the brain.
Scientists and doctors have brain waves that show that pornography is detrimental to free will action and freedom itself.
Freedom of speech is determined by the free will. If a person is addicted, that person is not free, but must do what the imprisonment of his will, damaged by the addiction forces him/her to do.
This is not Freedom of Speech or press but exactly the opposite, tyranny over the mind and soul of the free sovereign person God creates him to be.
So, God creates man free. Pornography creates an addiction in man that tyrannizes and destroys his freedom, his choice and his joy.
