What is most chilling about the murder of Charlie Kirk is that it was not in the least surprising. Not anymore.
The response to TPUSA was all too often rage and violence. Liberals and anti-free speech groups like Antifa would trash their tables and threaten the students. Recently, at UC Davis, police simply watched as a TPUSA tent was torn apart and the tent carried off.
Violent speech has long been acceptable on campuses so long as it targets conservatives. Teachers have called for others to “take out” Trump supporters and for the Secret Service to assassinate him.
University of Wisconsin Professor José Felipe Alvergue, head of the English Department, turned over the table of College Republicans supporting a conservative for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. He reportedly declared, “The time for this is over!”
At universities, professors have called for “detonating white people,” denouncing police, calling for Republicans to suffer, strangling police officers, celebrating the death of conservatives, calling for the killing of Trump supporters, supporting the murder of conservative protesters, and supporting the attempted assassination of President Trump. One professor who declared that there is “nothing wrong” with such acts of violence as killing conservatives was actually promoted.
Too many Leftists eschew debate and replace it with calls for violence. Call for something long and loud enough and you may get it, good and hard.

Why are we surprised that the “correct thinking” people rejoice in the murder of Charlie Kirk?

“Treason” can only be wrought during war according to our Constitution. We are at war. Violence, corrupting our innocent children, killing innocent citizens, destroying statues, burning buildings, cars. If this is not war, what is?
OK. Only Congress can declare war. Too many of congress patronize their constituents while catering to the deep pockets of the lobbyists, without love, without patriotism, without integrity.
I’m watching the press conference on Fox announcing the arrest of the suspect. I belive the governor of Utah (Spencer Cox) is speaking right now — I sure wish us Sucker Staters could borrow him for a while!
What makes this whole thing scary to me is that Charlie Kirk was not a politician, but a “social media influencer” and organizer. I can’t remember that someone outside of an elected politician being targeted like this. Maybe it’s a recognition that this is where the real power lies in today’s world and not with elected leaders. What is laughable is that Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez canceled her appearance because of possibly being a “target.” Talk about self-centered! This world is a mess, and it needs Jesus and His Holy Catholic more than ever.

Sadly, …late last year, the CEO of United Health Care suffered being shot and killed too.
John F: You’re right, I forgot. Amazing the propaganda being put out that it’s a “right wing” problem. Maybe the whole point is to make normal people turn away from politics and leave it to the “professionals.”
Social Science is in one way similar to Physical Science in that actions result in opposite reactions. It is also different in that the reaction may be greater, less, or delayed from the original action. Wars are good illustrations. Assassinations are frequently unique instances such as the assassination of Arch Duke Ferdinand that preceded WW I. It would not be surprising if violence continues from the left because of this crime as the fuse has been lit and the reaction so far on social media indicates a bandwagon effect on the violence oriented left.
Matthew, judging by the attitudes I encountered during college and in the military, that is very much the case. Can’t possibly have all we ignorant peasants in the general population actually exercise our own judgement.
