Under “Devout Catholic” Joe Biden

Go here to read the story.  I call the FBI the Stasi, and I am not joking when I do so.  Under the Puppetmasters, it functioned as the party police of the Democrats.  It should be broken up root and branch.

“The FBI employee incorrectly asserted in the email that the priest’s communications with the parishioner were “not considered privileged” because he “has not completed his catechism or been baptized in the Church.” “

Weasel words.
The problem with an organization that is accountable to no one isn’t that it’s accountable to no one, it’s that it attracts persons who desire to be accountable to no one.

The barnacles need to be blasted off the federal penal code and federal law enforcement distributed between several departments, each sorted into specialized agencies. An omnibus agency like the FBI should not exist. I do hope Messrs. Patel and Bognino are cleaning out the managerial ranks and purging the salaried like employees in the Washington HQ. For more than 30 years, there have been obtrusive scandals indicating the agency’s institutional culture is rotten.

I don’t know if it’s true or not, but my father the psychiatrist used to say that the personalities that become policemen and those that become criminals are very similar. Something happens that just knocks them one side of the other side of the law. We shouldn’t forget that the FBI what’s the personal Stasi for J Edgar Hoover right after it’s founding.

And oh yeah. To Don’s point, if someone tells you they’re a devout Catholic, they aren’t. Many of the people that I have met that claim that they are devout are working some kind of side Hustle.

We already have FBI, DEA, CPB, ATF, DHS, ICE, and USSS. There’s also the US Marshall’s Service. They each have their different focus areas. I suspect that disbanding one and redistributing it’s functions would not simplify matters.

I’m still convinced that President Biden had no idea of what was going on under him. History will judge him as a failed president, one of, if not they, worst presidents ever.

“Simplifying matters” is your brainwave, not mine.

DHS is an assemblage of a mix of federal policing and civil defense agencies to which they added an intelligence collection apparat. They also added the TSA, as Democrats in Congress insisted baggage and passenger screeners employed by local airports and airlines be replaced with unionized federal workers. The division of labor between the Department of Justice and DHS is about what you’d expect from horse-trading among congressional barons. (It includes three of the agencies you name).
==
The trouble with ICE is that an administration indifferent to immigration enforcement can readily redeploy agents to chasing down contraband. Separating the two functions would be agreeable.
==
The Secret Service mixes two functions – tracking down counterfeiters and dignitary protection – that are combined in one agency due to inertia.
==
ATF has its particular book because it was cleaved off from a bureau within the Treasury department devoted to collecting excise taxes.
==
The FBI is, in fact, the primary civilian agency devoted to federal policing. It’s workforce is 6x that of the Secret Service, 7x that of ATF, 4x that of the DEA (which has been larded with civil regulatory functions). It’s book of business includes everything and it can undertake counter-intelligence investigations as well. You’ll recall the scamming around by Rosenstein / Comey / McCabe involved conducting a criminal investigation making use of a predicate for opening a counter-intelligence investigation.
==
Please note also that policing and prosecution are included in the Department of Justice contrary to the practice of state and local government, where these functions are separated.
==
We might just follow a variant the common practice of state and local government and have one department for legal representation of the government; one to operate prisons, jails, specialty detention, probation, parole, &c; one to provide security on federal civilian property, cybersecurity, and dignitary protection; one to encompass mobile forces investigating violations of federal law; one which encompasses stationary forces and miscellaneous functions; one which collects the taxes; one which encompasses MPs and inter-service investigatory services, and one which is devoted to civil defense. As for investigating violations of federal law, you can do just as well to have a counter-intelligence corps, an agency tracking the drug trade, an agency tracking fraud schemes, an agency tracking miscellaneous contraband, an agency tracking immigration offenses, an agency tracking explosives, &c.
==
We might also amend the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure to require preliminary hearings in front of a federal magistrate or panel of magistrate (sometimes with adversary proceedings) and a favorable ruling there before an application to a grand jury can be made. We might recalibrate the sentencing schedule in the federal penal code so it resembles the median of state practice. And we might scrape away the accumulation of offenses in the federal penal code.
==
The federal government is a property-owning corporation which can be the victim of common crimes like theft, fraud, trespassing, burglary, vandalism. arson.
==
The federal government employs people who have to be able to execute their lawful functions without contrived distractions, assaults on their person, &c.
==
The federal government generates documents, seals, currency, &c in danger of being forged.
==
The federal government collects taxes which we must all be obligated to pay.
==
The federal government holds formal proceedings which must be uncorrupted and undisrupted by acts of contempt, bribery, tampering &c. The issue of those same proceedings must not be with impunity disobeyed by those aspiring to jump bail, escape, destroy documents, &c.
==
The federal government’s operations include interaction between officials and the public which must not be corrupted by bribery, extortion, and general malfeasance, misfeasance, and nonfeasance.
==
You have persons crossing the international frontier and shepherding and harboring others; the federal government has the responsibility to apprehend those doing so contrary to law.
==
You have merchandise shipped over jurisdictional frontiers; it is the federal government’s responsibility to enforce laws contrary to the trade in contraband.
==
You have services contracted for between parties in different jurisdictions, funds transferred from a party in one jurisdiction to one in another, services provided in a locale to travelers from another jurisdiction &c. It is the federal government’s responsibility to investigate such transactions which are defined in law as nefarious.
==
You have state and local officials engaged in misconduct alluded to in the 14th amendment and collections of private actors doing so with impunity.
==
You have offenses against the nation: treason, treachery, sabotage, espionage, and insurrection (the real kind, not the liberal fantasy of J6).
==
And you have a military which cannot operate without its disciplinary code.
==
The state and local governments are not optimally equipped to address those questions, but they can certainly address other questions for which federal intervention is redundant.
==
We do not benefit from a federal prosecution of a man for shooting up a synagogue in Pittsburgh. Authorities in Pittsburgh can bring him to justice according to Pennsylvania law. We do not need a federal prosecutor hounding Jared Fogle for possessing child pornography and trading stills with another sexual pervert. Indiana state authorities could have handled them both. And we certainly do not benefit from a federal prosecutor colluding with a federal judge to destroy Conrad Black’s businesses or federal authorities entrapping people with process crimes which have no analogue in state codes, or the promiscuous use of undercover officers and agent provacateurs to which federal agencies are given, or sending a small army to arrest a rural crank whose offense was failure to appear on a trumped up charge of selling a sawed off shotgun (and murdering two members of his family in the process).

Lots of talk in the comments about cleaning up the FBI and other Federal security agencies. Interestingly, though unrelated except for being a Federal agency, the US NRC is down from five to three commissioners (and no chairperson) for the first time in 49 years that I’ve been working in nuclear energy, and Trump gave it marching orders in three different executive orders: fix your house now. If Trump can clean up the US NRC, then why not the FBI?

Shocking. No other words.

Not to mention the “opportunity cost“ lost, when the FBI should be chasing down criminal gang members and foreign security threats that have mightily penetrated into our country.

A law is not a law if it is lacking truth and Justice. Legal precedent has no place using a law lacking truth and Justice.

I fully agree. This is despicable. JB, IMHO, is no Catholic. It takes more than holding a Rosary and taking up space in a pew to be a faithful Catholic. He denied and betrayed Church teaching to further his ambition, and he was complicit in illegally persecuting Catholics – even at Mass. And then apparently joined a Masonic organization after he moved out of the White House.

Yes – the FBI and every other Department of the Federal Government needs fully overhauled and rid of *all* prejudiced, bigoted influences that now exist.
