News that I missed, courtesy of The Babylon Bee:
U.S. — Law enforcement agencies across the country saw a sudden surge of popularity today after word got out that they were shooting journalists with tear gas and rubber bullets.
While the general public had been at least somewhat divided over law enforcement’s crackdown on illegal aliens over the last several months, support for police exploded overnight after officers began to open fire on members of the mainstream media.
“I was on the fence until I heard they were shooting reporters,” said one citizen. “Once I found out that they were blasting journalists, I threw my support behind them, one hundred percent. Taking the fight to the media is a cause I can really get on board with. Thin Blue Line, baby! We’re with you guys!”
Other Americans voiced similar support for officers after hearing the news that reporters had become primary targets. “This is what we need,” another individual said. “Nothing unites us all and brings healing to this country like shooting loathsome journalists. I can speak for myself and tens of millions of Americans when I say we’re standing by law enforcement all the way. Go get ‘em, police! Show those reporters what for!”
Go here to read the rest. As has often been said, no matter how much you hate the mainstream media, you do not hate them enough:

I think the executives at CNN and MSNBC are seeing a way to improve their abysmal ratings.
The chance to see hacks like Jake Tapper and George Stephanopoulis take a few rounds of rubber bullets is certainly the only way they could ever get me to tune in. And the judicious application of tear gas might make Americans actually want to watch those harpies at The View…
Nothing quite says “peaceful” protests as when your head is caved in from a peice of cinder block. Or when your business is in flames. Or when your car is vandalized…well…
…that’s the beauty of fake news.
Don’t believe your Lying Eyes.
The View?
[haaaa ha ha ha haa haaa.]
Another word for flatulence consisting of four letters.
That’s what the program should be named.
“Mostly peaceful” protesters were met with “most were peaceful” police and a “somewhat peaceful” military.
I may never be able to attend a high school play again, the flashbacks from our media reporting and the thought that those high schoolers might be our future democrat leaders might be too much.
Stuff like this makes me ashamed to have ever been a journalist, granted it was with a Catholic diocesan newspaper and a couple of small town publications, but I probably should have spent those 20 years doing something more respectable, like being an ambulance chasing lawyer or a used car salesman….
I don’t think rubber bullets should be used. If the rioters are waving the flags of foreign countries while burning, pillaging, and looting, then they are enemy combatants and must be treated accordingly. If Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bess are supporting these rioters, then they are aiding and abetting the enemy, and should be treated accordingly. The time for handling this with kid gloves is finished.
“like being an ambulance chasing lawyer”
I have never chased an ambulance! Walked sedately towards one on a couple of occasions—
My favorite quote about my profession is that 90 percent of attorneys give the good ten percent a bad name!
Following the news, I really don’t know anything about the protests themselves. They’ve reported on why the protesters are protesting. They have mentioned blocking roads (which I don’t care for). There were a couple shots of burning cars. But the emphasis has been on President Trump’s actions and the backlash against those. I couldn’t say what the protests have been like, when things were happening, why they changed or anything.
LQC says it’s time to stop using rubber bullets. I agree 100%! It’s time to get the lead out and show these thugs that there are real, deadly consequences to violent behaviors. Shoot to kill was always the traditional response to mobs of looters and rioters, so let’s get traditional.
Newsom is seeing his chances of being president go up in smoke, even more so than after the LA fires ( for which his policies were only partly responsible). If he gets tough, he’ll be denounced as a “Trump ally” and lose left-lib votes and cash, but a twice-burnt major city will get him nowhere with Democrats struggling in red or purple states, especially when their mortal enemy will not be their electoral opponent in ’28.
As for the mayor: Her Bass is grass and her political career over (which is no guarantee her successor won’t be as big a fool as she is).
The video I saw of a reporter getting shot by a rubber bullet went like this:
-She is standing in the middle of an intersection with a wall of riot police behind her.
-She talks about how the police are using rubber bullets to get the crowd to disperse.
-As she is doing this she moves closer to the riot police, even though the crowd is clearly being herded in the opposite direction.
-At this point she gets shot in the leg with a rubber bullet.
And of course there were people in the crowd shouting “you just shot a journalist! You’re not allowed to do that!”
Too many journalists and leftists think that journalists are some sort of superbeings who are above the law. You don’t get special privileges for lying to the public.
RH,
I saw that, too. It was pretty funny. Her voice went up about as high as the mouse from Tom and Jerry.
Another story to file under “Be Careful How You Participate in the Riots”: a Navy JAG, an O-4 to be precise, was taunting conservatives online, insulting the Secretary of Defense, and threatening the lives of ICE agents and others.
Someone quickly followed his digital trail and promptly reported him to his superiors in San Diego. At least he won’t be in the Navy much longer (unless, that is, the SecDef himself steps in and makes sure he spends time in the brig).
Now CNN’s Jason Carroll was detained. To be clear, what happened is that
-He was in the riot zone,
-Police told him that he could not be there
-He was escorted away with his hands held behind his back by an officer, but not handcuffed or ziptied.
-After being escorted away, he was told that if he returned he would be arrested.
The AP is trying to spin this into an unfathomable violation of first amendment rights. I’ve seen multiple reporters claim that the press should be able to freely walk through a riot without any interference from the police, regardless of the situation.
They are crying so much this time around that I think it’s going to turn the bulk of the public against them. If reporters were being killed or gravely wounded that would be one thing. Or if they were being harrassed when they were clearly out of the riot zone. But these latest things are only “injustices” if you believe that merely being a reporter means that you can go wherever you want and do whatever you want, unlike the hoi polloi.
(Keep in mind too that for these people “reporter” means “employee of a large MSM outlet.” A citizen reporter gets no sympathy from them, nor do employees of outlets like Newsmax.)
Lauren Tomasi is US Correspondent reporter for Channel 9. She was standing in the middle of the chaos. The police officer might have or might have not deliberately identified her as a reporter, but they were shooting rubber bullets to move people away from the chaos. It didn’t matter that she was the media. This is what the media reported. Context matters:
“The US correspondent for Nine said police were ‘moving them (protesters) on through the heart of LA’ while several loud bangs could be heard in the distance.
Moments later a policeman was seen turning his gun towards Tomasi. A cloud of smoke appeared and she doubled over in pain.
‘You just f***ing shot a reporter,’ a protester yelled at nearby police as several other protesters stopped to ask the journalist if she was okay.
Tomasi could be heard yelling back: ‘I’m good, I’m good’, and Nine confirmed the reporter was ‘left sore but otherwise unharmed’ by the close-range shot.
Breaking her silence on the incident, Tomasi later told viewers: ‘I’m okay. My cameraman Jimmy and I are both safe.
‘This is just one of the unfortunate realities of reporting on these kinds of incidents.’
Impressively, Tomasi went on to give an updated report on the unfolding events in the city.”
So context matters! And yes, that IS the hazards of the job, particularly if you are standing amongst protesters being moved along by police. Our idiotic PM “condemned” the “attack”….yeah whatever Albanese.
If “the protests are largely peaceful” why will the protestors not stop when asked?
