As one would expect, there is a strong family resemblance between the brothers. I think the three brothers get along very well, so I assume the two non-Pope brothers, after this flurry, will not seek the limelight. I hope the media will leave them alone, but I doubt it.
I think President Trump wants to forge an alliance with Pope Leo to bring peace to the Ukraine and to the Middle East. The model for this is of course the alliance between Pope John Paul II and President Reagan which did so much to bring down Communism in Eastern Europe. Pope Leo has indicated that he is willing to host peace talks between Ukraine and Russia. Let us pray this proves fruitful..
The morning of his election I was saying that they wouldn’t pick an American because an American couldn’t be seen as neutral in peace negotiations. I look forward to being proven even more wrong!
