Pope Chastisement, may his soul rest in peace, was a killer for Church morale. He was the crazy Uncle you tolerate every Thanksgiving who suddenly became a permanent fixture of your house. That is why 80 percent of the voting Cardinals were appointed by Francis, and his closest cronies, like Parolin, never came close to getting the votes needed to become Pope in the recently concluded Conclave.
Go here to read all about it.

“It’s nice to have a Pope who doesn’t hate me.” -thoughts from Seamus Nua’s friends.
Just to be at that place, where one feels that emotion coming from the leader of the Church that you love and serve day in and day out…it’s worse than degrading. The uptick is the opportunity to use it as gift. Offer it up for souls, remembering the abandonment that Christ went through on that Good Friday so many years ago.
How else are we going to advance in our formation process if we pity ourselves more than use the circumstances facing us for the betterment of our brothers and sisters.
Crosses in our life become great graces if we so choose.
I concur with many here and elsewhere that Pope Francis was arguably one of the worst popes in the history of the Church. However, after hearing about his mental illness that he had been taking medication for 45 years, I have a degree of sympathy and sadness for him. It is a shame the the words of his deputy in the Jesuits when Bergolio was the head honcho weren’t taken seriously – that he should not have been consecrated a bishop, let alone cardinal & pope. Those who pushed him forward carry much of the guilt for what has transpired these past 12 years.
Here it is…..
“In the crosses of life that come to us, Jesus offers us opportunities to help him redeem the world. Let us profit by his generosity.”
– Blessed Solanus Casey Capuchin
Marco Rupnik was the last straw. The big eyes belonged to his victims, as sure as Wagner’s music belonged to his friend whom he had betrayed.
Jorge destroyed all the work of Benedict XVI, John Paul II and Paul VI. Did Jorge think no one noticed?
Philip:
Mother Mary never left Jesus Christ, crucified. Jorge was a fraud, a destroyer, not the Vicar of Christ. The priesthood of the laity had to suffer and do his work, to fight, to live for Christ. Is Jorge happy in heaven?
I am encouraged by the role Cardinal Burke had in the election. He was the Archbishop here in my diocese of St. Louis in the 90s. A very traditional Catholic.
With all due respect to the leaked statements, I think we have as much chance of knowing what happened in this conclave as getting the full third secret of Fatima.
Many of the cardinals were appointed by Francis, many have had a hand in abuse coverups, many have had a hand in the sketchy Vatican banking, many have advocated for worse than what Francis did and all who speak of the conclave violate a vow. I don’t trust the sources.
We will not know, this side of the Judgement, what happened.
Is Jorge happy in heaven?

It’s a Chastisement that the Church suffered and we might have more to come. Silence on abortion. Move the guilty predator priests around the map as a fix. Oh…and the biggest
fault mind you;
The lack of prayer and sacrifices from the laity. In other words our sidelining ourselves from entering into the fight. Our disobedience by not doing everything possible to strengthen the priesthood as was mentioned by Father John Harden so many years ago. Yes. A Holy and good Jesuit mentioned this neglect of the laity and the consequences thereof.
So the question should be are we going to be happy at the end of our lives on Earth.
Or are we going to be called the least in the kingdom of God?
If we do our part and fully commit to sacrificing for our priests and engage in daily prayer, the Power from on High will move mountians, even if your faith today is as tiny as a mustard seed.
The priesthood has been and will be under attack until the victory of Our Immaculata is complete. We humble ourselves now knowing full well that when were called away from this church militant we will look back and say; “If I had only done more. If only.”

Thank you CAG for the link.
It didn’t take long for some ching ($) to go to Rome from Trump, if my memory serves me.

But with the Vatican’s finances in a dire situation, and donations from the U.S. declining, a pope with a connection to the world’s biggest economy—and one of the largest Catholic populations—could provide the Church with a lifeline.

My pleasure Philip, I know I must not be the only one avoiding social media.
The thread seems rather detailed for a secret conclave … I like how he calls Dolan a traditionalist … That’s a stretch 😀
American cash could really help the Vatican out a lot right now … I guess we’ll see if those financial needs outweigh their concerns regarding the administration’s immigration policy.
Raymond Arroyo and Diane Montagna have said that, from their sources, the story about Burke’s apartment being used for these meetings, at least as far as Cdl. Prevost is concerned, are completely false. I have no insight into whose sources are telling the truth, but Burke doesn’t seem to me to be the kind for that sort of thing. But I have no idea.

I agree.
Jason. I don’t see secret meetings with Burke passing the feasibility test but Pope Francis pushed some boundaries so to speak, so I wouldn’t be surprised.
So now we have a president who doesn’t hate people like us and a pope who, apparently, doesn’t hate people like us. Now if we could just get some blue state governors (NY, IL, MI, CA, etc.) who don’t hate people like us….
